I was thinking recently about, well, how great the Mega Man 10 TAS is, and about the Mega Man 9 posts discussing the difficult decision of in-game time versus real time. If Mega Man 9 goes for real time, as all prior Mega Man TASes have, the player will have to limit special weapon use. It would be nice if it didn't have to be that way. It's no solution for Mega Man 9, but we have Wii TASing now, and GameCube has Mega Man Anniversary Collection, which among its other special features introduces SNES/PSX-style quick switching with the shoulder buttons. I feel like it would be quite cool to see Mega Man 1-6 done more in the style of most post-NES Mega Man runs. So... good idea or bad idea?

I think there would be room for a run of this game. Maybe two, even. I mean, someone would need to play a 100% first playthrough to get a verifiable savestate. This first run would different from the Genesis game in terms of graphical and mechanical differences as well as the presense of Narsha/Zuika/Mawlock who could all have a pretty profound effect on late-game strategies. I'm thinking of the Move spell, here, plus movement-related cards. A new game+ run with all cards, of course, would be completely different and pretty incredible to see, I'd say. Both sound like a ton of work though.

There are a few other areas I can use the buster as well to waste time, which means I no longer have to refill the Wheel Cutter, Rebound Striker, nor the Solar Blaze. And the Commando Bomb needs only 1 small pellet. Time to redo Wily 1 :|
Although it's sad you have to redo Wily 1, that was excellent planning on your part. Questions about Wily 2 are totally going to come up in the submission thread but I think you made a very good decision. Great work on this.

Having watched it now, I think it ought to be published. The camera angles didn't bother me (except maybe in BitDW) and they made BitFS seem new and fun (especially the fight). I'd also like to support a bit of creativity and change in a game that's seen a some very similar TASes. I wouldn't rate it significantly higher or lower in terms of entertainment, but it's different. I don't see it being more or less confusing to new viewers than the previous published movie, either.

I think the camera work was playful. Voting yes.
This is interesting and maybe a bit telling, coming from someone who found a 10-frame improvement to a one-minute TAS and didn't submit it because it wasn't different enough... I haven't watched it yet, but from what I've read adelikat has a tough, poop-filled job ahead.

Any suggestions as to what would be a more intuitive set up?
Clicking on "help" and then "Rating movies" is logical, but "help" is kind of snuck in at the bottom of the main page. "Contribute" might make a good a button along with "Home"/"Movies"/etc. if that isn't already too crowded.

In rating.exe, it would be really nice if there were a few sort options. Besides the way it is now, where it sorts by a console index number, then alphabetically by game, I think the following would be handy: -alphabetically by game regardless of console -numerically by movie number -alphabetically by movie file name as they appear in my torrent tracker I also wish I could get to my ratings from the main page in fewer clicks, but really I guess it's only two clicks... they're just tucked away and a bit unintuitive. And I acknowledge that I'm probably one of very few people that think this matters.

Sounds like the five characters should be S, T, A, R, and E, such that T, A and S are the three that stay consistently. This would allow the most wordplay and, as a bonus, TAS is there the whole time. The two teams could be (TARS, ARTS, RATS, STAR) and (TASE, SATE, TEAS, EAST, EATS, SEAT), depending on how they need to be rotated. If you need a sixth, I'd recommend Y. Most helpful post ever.

Also, the list of runs with commentary page is not up to date at all.
I'm sure I knew that this list existed but it took me a while to find again just now. My commentary for [1488] Genesis Phantasy Star IV by janus in 1:28:43.40 isn't on there either. But there was no encode using it or soft subs. At least it's in the movie's description.

This was awesome. My favorite part was around the spike pits in 1-5. Looking forward to more. Suppose a stable Dolphin showed up soon... would there be any merits in doing the Wii version instead, or both? I kind of doubt four players could make that bird move faster.

It doesn't seem like anyone has brought up the FF4 TAS that repeatedly uses a pause that darkens the screen and lowers the music, very, very distractingly... and was published using code that removed the effect on the music. Or at least, if someone did bring it up, I missed it. Is something like that perhaps an option? Using a script or modification to somehow reduce the annoyance of pausing?

I think this might've been year of the handheld. To help with my own nominations I made a big ol' list of basically all the standout TASes of the year and a third are for this category. But I'll just nominate which I feel are best, of course. [1679] DS Kirby Squeak Squad by MUGG in 36:40.54 [1661] GB Final Fantasy Legend II by knbnitkr in 29:55.57 [1628] GBA Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow "all souls" by Kriole in 25:47.05 [1564] GB Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins by andymac in 21:43.52 [1560] GBA Mega Man Battle Network by Bag of Magic Food in 55:40.65
