About this run

This run is an improvement of 5,103 frames (85 seconds) over the published Super Metroid run. Once again I aim for real time, as opposed to in-game time. In-game clock’s final time is 24:16. Cpadolf’s recently submitted run is 30 seconds faster on the in-game clock, but is 90 seconds slower in real time. The real time oriented route I designed for this run eliminates backtracking and excessive item collecting. The only noticeably slower parts compared to the in-game run are the Ridley and Mother Brain battles, due to skipping the plasma beam.
Instead of mentioning all the improvements I have made to the run here, please refer to this excel file for a complete breakdown. Special thanks to JXQ for the original excel spreadsheet, from which I copied his formulas and followed his tips for many of the rooms in the run.

Thanks to the following Super Metroid runners & researchers

  • Catnap
  • Cpadolf
  • Evilchen
  • Frenom
  • Graveworm
  • Jecy
  • JXQ
  • Kejardon
  • Kriole
  • Michael Flatley
  • Moozooh
  • OgreSlayer
  • Saturn
  • Taco
  • Terimakasih
  • Tonski
My run would not be as precise as it is without the help of memory watch and Gocha’s memory watch tool.
Special thanks to DeHacked’s microstorage system for hosting many of my test runs.
Enjoy the run!

Guys, I think we all know we should give credit to Saturn for his inhuman route-finding abilities. Other things which we have not justly credited Saturn for: -Being born -Breathing -Eating -Sleeping -Using the internet -Creating the screen name "Saturn" for himself Feel free to add to this list!

Having a Roman god, gas giant, vehicle make, dwarf creature who speaks in BOING, and 32-bit console of bizarre architecture all named after him. :o
Kirby said so, so it must be true. ( >'.')>

It's amazing that there are indeed people who seem to not get what I mean with "perfect" and with "100%" regarding my RPG walkthroughs. So let me tell you the obvious meaning about it, which, as I at first expected, a 5 year old would usually understand by himself: Perfect = The route and various strategies I used in them (has nothing to do with speed) 100% = item colleciton As you see, I collect all items by using a optimal route with minimal backtracking to achieve that, so everything is true about this 2 words when describing this runs. Hope that clears everything up for the few who didn't get it at first. Oh, and please, if anybody still has some problems, just PM me next time and we will solve it without disturbing other people here. Thank you.

That's why… let's bring the subject up again! Seriously, how hard can it be to ignore one person and not get dragged into meaningless quarrels?

Indeed. It's just pitiful. Chris: Whoever you migt be, congratulations to create a fake account just to hide your true identity here. Also, in case you didn't know, the PM button is here.

yeah let's end it here. I hate to see the community divided on such trivial matters.

I considered that possibility, but I don't recall seeing Saturn making an error like that ... Then again, I don't follow much of what happens here.

That's about as easy to believe as Bisqwit saying he's never noticed AKA botching the english language. Please note that this is a joke and that I don't mean this literally. Also note I'm not using super small font because I'm not a super idiot.

But wait, all other 2,000 TASvideos members have done that also! So why does he get special attention? Sorry, that argument reeks of epic fail Mr. Suckup.

Here's the problem Saturn. The definition you use is different from the definition that everyone else uses for the word perfect. 1. excellent or complete beyond practical or theoretical improvement 2. entirely without any flaws, defects, or shortcomings 3. accurate, exact, or correct in every detail Perhaps this is why everyone thinks that when you throw the word "perfect" around so much that it reeks of arrogance. Rather than perfect, you should perhaps call your "walkthroughs" -- "My most excellently TAS/Speedran 100% Walkthroughs." When you say the word perfect, you imply that your run is without flaw and unimprovable by even 1 frame. And for a game such as Secret of Evermore which is multiple hours long, well I would find that extremely hard to believe. Not to mention that your obsoleted Chrono Trigger was once in the category. Being that it has been obsoleted, by definition, it was not perfect. Please consider my words as not teasing or as a put-down. I'm meerly trying to bridge this gap between yourself and why people have a tendancy to dislike you. Hopefully once and for all this can just be put to rest... (although I doubt it and expect more bullshit)

I agree. As shown from above (Chris), this discussion is doing more harm than it is doing good, by shaping the attitudes of newbies against persons, which is especially what we do not want here. If you have personal problems with someone, take it with PM and do not spam the public forums with it. Especially as this thread has nothing to do with Saturn in particular.

Why is everybody taking my post as something bad? Makes TASes and doesn't afraid of anything kinda translates to He makes TASes and isn't afraid if anybody says or does anything about it. I personally like the TASes Saturn does. I don't understand really why Saturn would think I'm trying to hide my identity by putting the first half of my name for my user. :/ I didn't mean to cause more tension in this argument. Sorry TT_TT

good job hero, even though I knew this run would be published, as it's such an improvement.
Current TAS Project: SMR 100% TAS - 12.5% of the way done with the initial route (I'm going to then release it for further improvments)
