The playback of this run comes to a speedy end by means of many glitches and using JPN rom. This rom can show the message quickly than others. They'll allow to complete this game within an hour. All of the glitches and some techniques I used are only existing one. I deeply appreciated people's great discoveries and researches.
Incidentally, this run was made as just amusing movie for Japanese video site. After the putting on view in the site, I was proposed trying to submit to TASVideos. So this run contains some joking factors, slow parts and going through old route. That's why It'll able to be clipped several minutes off the records in the run.
However, as a result of thinking, I decided to submit because I won't try again in the near future. Although opinions may vary on using JPN rom, I hope you like it.

The following glitches and techniques are mainly used:
  • Escape forest with water jumpslash ESS
  • Skip the owl with Deku Stick
  • Get Gold scale in childhood
  • Skip Door of Time
  • Steal Rod
  • Bottle Adventure
  • Skip Gerudo Bridge with Hookshot
  • Skip Ganon's Castle Trials with Bomb Hovering
  • SS to Ganon to keep Master Sword

adelikat: The ending input was way longer than necessary. I chopped it and replaced the movie file. This movie is sub 1 hour!

mmbossman: The two main goals of this site are to provide entertaining movies which are typically as fast as possible. However, sometimes one facet takes more precedence than the other. We have several well optimized movies which are less than entertaining to watch, and we have some that have known improvements but have been published because they are very entertaining. Usually these known improvements are small, however the improvements they provide to the previously published movie are usually small as well. Here, the improvement is clearly much more substantial.
So that leads us to two possible solutions: 1) accept this run for what it is, an entertaining run with some flaws that obsoletes one of the two runs we currently have which can be beat in real time, or 2) reject it due to known improvements and mildly suboptimal level of play. After reading through all the responses in the discussion thread, I feel it better benefits the site and our viewers to accept and publish this run. Do I wish this run integrated some more of the known tricks which have been pointed out? Sure I do. However I don't believe that it is a wise decision to await a "perfect" run which may never come, while in the mean time continuing to have a run published which is worse than a real time run. So I am accepting this submission.
This acceptance will not result in a change of policy regarding (U) ROMs being preferable to (J) ROMs. Any future improvements should use the (U) ROM, and any resulting time lost due to slower text screens will not be used to penalize that submission, just as any time gained from faster text screens was not factored into the judging decision for this run.

Aktan: Processing... (taking forever to audio sync it)

EZGames69: For anyone planning on encoding this in the future. Make sure you use the same plugins that are listed, especially the input plugin as using the wrong one can cause a desync. And also make sure "Raw Data" is checked in the plugin settings for the input plugin. and finally for the RSP plugin, make sure you select "set to process alists inside the rsp". That should be all.

I'm not in a position to watch the input file at this exact moment, but I will make two comments which will have an impact on the viewing process: 1) This run was first brought to our attention in video form here: http://dic.nicovideo.jp/v/sm10028668 (discussion from the OoT thread starts at http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=229049#229049) 2) There are 36 empty frames at the end of the input file. There is a chance that there is more unnecessary input at the end (without being able to watch the run right now I can't tell), but (assuming this is acceptable to the author) it would be a good idea to remove those and replace the submission file. In any case, despite having watched the run at the above link, I am withholding any vote until I get the chance to see the run in emulator and we can determine what the time improvement is relative to the most recent unoptimised submission in light of this having been done on the (J) version (in particular how much of the improvement can be attributed to that).

I can't get the m64 to sync. Does it use the normal rerecording mupen version, or some kind of reset or pause bug fix version? What is "Copy framebuffer to RDRAM" and why does it use it? Why does it use v1.1 rom instead of v1.0? I hope someone can get it to sync and make an avi. The video on nicovideo is pretty bad quality, I wonder why he didn't post it on youtube instead. I'd rather see an English version, but I voted Yes because it beats the currently published TAS by 1h and 30 minutes.

I got it to sync. You must use v1.1 and you must use every plugin he listed. Also note that the input plugin must be the same too or else desync. For the RSP plugin: must be set to process alists inside the rsp And you must do the Copy frame buffer option like he said. Getting that option is tricky though. Go to Utilities -> video settings and uncheck the "Hide advanced settings" then close the dialog box. Repoen it and there will be an advanced settings tab with that option listed. He uses a few unusual plugins Don't you love watching movies on plugin based emulators?

The video on nicovideos doesn't work properly. When it gets to the part where you talk to Zora King, it fastforwards to the end and then stays black.

Use the (U) version of a ROM unless there is a good reason not to (as an example a shortcut/trick which only works in a different version, or superior music), or the version does not exist.
I believe that the general consensus here is that faster text is not a valid reason to use a (J) ROM over a (U) ROM; I have seen runs using (J) versions rejected for that reason. This would probably be worth publishing on the grounds that the current any% is way out of date, but I'm not a Judge, nor do I plan to watch this on the grounds that I never finished OoT and don't want any of it spoiled for me in case I ever get back to it.

adelikat, I already had all those options/roms/plugins like you said. I also had Raw data off (strangely, it syncs longer if I have it on, desyncs after getting the sword). Any other ideas why it desyncs?

Usually it's no problem.

This situation is a fringe case, however. I'd say the usual rules and precedents may not apply.

What are you basing that on? As I mentioned, I'm not planning on watching this for a couple of reasons. Are there other (J)-specific timesavers I'm not aware of?

By fringe case I mean a movie that obsoletes another movie by 95 friggin minutes.

To be fair, the 95 minute obsoletion has nothing to do with using the (J) version rather than the (U) version, and the time saved from using the (J) version is minimal at best. Plus, as you've just found out, it's a lot harder to keep track of what's going on with Japanese text...

But 95 minutes has a lot to do with whether or not an exception to a rule should be made.

Oh, God, yes. To those of you who vote no because "there's a better run coming": This run is better optimized and is over 1:30 faster than the current run. We need to let a better run obsolete a worse one. The better run that's coming can obsolete this one when it comes. To those of you who vote no because it's in Japanese: The upcoming any% will probably be able to beat this run regardless. Also, for the love of God, we need to get Guanobowl's run off this site. Don't let something this trivial get in the way of that.

boct1584: I believe the reason this is a fringe case is that OoT runs are in very heavy demand and yet are also difficult to make; thus, we have to take the runs we can get instead of the runs we'd like to have. Ideally (for us) abeshi would have made his TAS to the site standards, but he was making it for nicovideo, not for us, so he didn't have any reason to follow our guidelines.

Also, I want to thank abeshi for kindly submitting his movie to our site. Having watched the entire TAS, I'd say I like it a lot more than the published movie. I also vote yes.

Personally, I would only be okay with the publication of something of this nature with the knowledge that there is an improved version of the (U) run in the works, which would iron out any of the remaining imprecision here. It's clear to me that this is well played enough to warrant being published subject to any rule-related decisions.

Same Vote is no for now based off what I've seen till that point. I'll add more info once I obtain the rom or get an encode.

I got it to play alright, then I decided to turn on AF and AA and got an immediate desync. Got up to around frame 90000 when it happened. What caused the desync was the inventory screen taking too long to load up. I'll try to watch later and see what I get.

By similar logic, I'm voting yes because I have no plans to actually watch this submission.
