I can see visual on the first video, but not the second. Any idea what I missing? I thought my codecs were up to date, but I may be wrong. I am using vlc.
The first is normal encode (8 bit color depth, 4:2:0 chroma subsampling), no surprise you can see visuals. The second is 10bit444 encode (10 bit color depth, no chroma subsampling). This is pretty exotic mode which pretty much nothing supports. So no surprise visuals don't show. Here is the notice about such encode (I notice not all movies having such encode have this): "In addition to the standard downloadable encode, there is a second experimental downloadable encode produced in 10-bit YUV444 h.264. You will need a very recent codec / media player (such as LAV Filters, recent builds of FFDShow-tryouts, or mplayer2) to be able to play this experimental encode back." Well, theoretically unstable versions of VLC should be able to play those back, but in practice I find that those versions fail spectacularly on any MKV or MP4.

No point making bsnes-rr when people are still using snes9x 1.43 to record.
After having bsnes-rr done, the site could simply stop accepting movies made in snes9x -- that would take care of this issue.
Or just Snes9x 1.43 movies. One can tell between 1.43 and 1.5x based on the .SMV header version number field. IIRC, there was idea to obsolete Snes9x 1.43, but nothing much came from it. The reasons to use Snes9x 1.43 seem to be: * The good: 1.43 has better tools than 1.5x (esp. 1.52/1.53) * The bad: 1.43 has less lag than 1.5x (faster times / comparing with previous runs).

We cannot begin since SRAM thus I began with a savestate
Details? * VBA version used does not support start from SRAM? * Challenge mode unlock does not save in SRAM? And regardless, you need that verification movie...

Starts from savestate? Yes, I realize challenge mode needs to be unlocked. * Is there some reason why starting from SRAM is not possible? * Where did you get that starting savestate from? - Start from SRAM requires verification movie - Start from Savestate also along with verification movie requires justification why start from SRAM is not possible.

Changed it to control and now it works. What a weird glitch! It was only with up and left, nothing else!
Likely there are lots of three-key combinations that won't work, and that was just first one you found. Technical explanation: Scan-matrix type keyboards (nearly every keyboard out there!) can't detect three-key combinations involving two keys on the same row and two keys on the same column (>3-key combinations only work if all three-key subsets would work). Say A and D are on the same row and A and O are on the same column (keyboard-dependent, and yes, this keyboard has it that way!), then one can't press A, D and O at once. Note that the scan matrix rows and columns may not correspond to physical key positions!

- is the "NoYoutube" list up to date ?
Yes, it always is up to date, as it displays the current state of underlying database. As to what it is: Those movies that lack Youtube streaming link. It does not show if somebody else is encoding it!
MthS-MlndN wrote:
- are these uploads still considered necessary (as there are only obsoleted movies) ?
AFAIK, those are considered "nice to have".
MthS-MlndN wrote:
- would it be better to wait for HQ encodes of these movies ?
All publications have encodes, but for purposes of youtube uploading: * Primary/Secondary: Most of these can't be uploaded because of dedup (as feos said). Even if it worked, quality would be bad. * 512: Even if 512 is well-encoded, the quality will be bad, so avoid uploading these. * 10bit444: Youtube can't deal with these at all. So, for all practical purposes, one must do dedicated encodes for Youtube. As for more info on enconding those: * Wiki: EncodingGuide/HighDefinition * Encoder's corner subforum * #tasvideos on irc.freenode.net
