What’s new?

This is an improvement of 2,054 frames (34 seconds) over the published run. This time was gained through a new glitch in which Samus can travel across multiple rooms while in the background of the game. This trick is used to complete Kraid first, which also eliminates the need to collect any missile tanks. A secondary improvement was made in the statue room. Samus no longer has to wait for the enemy to defrost; she simply jumps through the ceiling from underneath.

Special thanks to

CtrlAltDestroy ― For making sense out of the trick I discovered. I was playing in real time when I found the glitch, and I really didn't understand what I had done. He made a much more optimized test run in which I could compare against. He is also responsible for the awesome trick in the statue room.
Moozooh ― Hooked me up with some nifty memory addresses, which were absolutely vital for the sections where Samus' sprite was not on the screen.
Zoizite ― For his run, which I compared a large chunk of mine to.
Spider-Waffle ― Discovered a way into Kraid's room by using the bug from the sand pit.
Everyone else who encouraged me to complete this run, especially Angerfist who reminded me on a semi daily basis ;)
Enjoy!

Easy yes vote. Not waiting for the bug to unfreeze and passing through the floor.. :) I just wish Kraid's first hit would be avoidable without jumping over it and those three metroids at the end. Without those obtacles, this run would be perfect... I think!?!

Nice to see this finished! Looks sub-optimal in many places, but that probably can't be helped. Great improvement to the run, and I'm glad I could help with it. Also, I'd like to take credit for finding that statue room trick.

O.O!!!! OMFG! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO HER! YOU DAMN RAPIST! And total... annihalation of the laws of physics and everything in between... Yes vote... no doubt... but poor Samus will need to seek counselling with Rock thanks to the savagery... Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

I'm not quite sure it's praise to say he savagely raped Samus.

Definite yes vote. Good job, hero.

hero of the day travelled forward in time to watch future TASes, then stole their ideas and went back to the present to post them. Sounds like the plot for a new game. (Yes vote)

Very cool glitch and otherwise very optimized run, as we can expect from Hero. Beats the previous submission clearly so why even vote? :-) Obvious YES vote. Great Job hero!

If it beats a run that has a star, does it mean it gets a star for sure?

It isn't a sure thing. There have been a couple occasions where a star was removed from a newer version of the same run. Bionic Commando is a recent example. And thanks to everyone who voted so far.

I'm the Meh voter, because it ends with 864 timeunits in the last corridor, whereas you can see in the 'no minibosses' and '1-item' Metroid movies that 865 is possible. The room cranking is very entertaining, though.

Nice work on finding that trick in the statue room. The run itself seemed well optimized run through, also thanks for not using that password. Should we use the statue room trick for the screen shot?

Arc: Yeah sorry for not getting the time down by 1 unit, I think it may be related to unlucky sub-pixel positioning. P.JBoy: CtrlAltDestroy is responsible for the statue room trick, and yeah I think it would make for a good screenshot too.

Very nice. I didn't think my run would be beaten by so much. There are a few spots where it looks like you might be able to save a couple frames, but for the most part, it's quite good. I'm pretty sure the countdown timer at the end depends on how you enter the door. In the runs where it's 1 unit faster, Samus enters the door very low to the ground. Not certain, but I think that's what's doing it. People are really adamant about the no suit thing...
If for honesty, you want apologies, I don't sympathize.

Thanks Zoizite :) I did the run suited because I thought the sprite looked better than the suitless one. I didn't realize so many other people preferred it as well.
