Excised portions of much bigger drafts that are meant for more immediate feedback from the community.
Table of contents
CURRENT: Individual Level Layout
IL section mockups meant for universality and future-proofing. Tables would work similar to the submission workbench, user sortable and easily added to.
Possible points of discussion below.
- IL Publication
- Should they be published? Would it be unfair if they weren't? Would it be too much work/YT spam if they were?
- Idea One: Encodes are opt-in, i.e TASVideos will not provide encodes unless explicitly asked by the author. This prioritizes author/community encodes and potentially minimizes the workload for communities that tend to update ILs often. We may still step in and provide backup encodes if community encodes disappear, though if so it would only be in those cases and ideally only with prior approval.
- Idea Two: Separate TASVideosChannel for ILs, assuming we do end up going through the encoding process for them.

- IL Submission
- How should submitting ILs work? Separate system than normal submission? Maybe an option to "ascend" a Userfile?
- Idea One: This might sound wild so bear with me - maybe we don't require an input file here. ILs feel like something where we could get away with only having a provided encode. In these cases we'd just have a Verified/Unverified tag on the associated run, with Unverified runs not being listed by default in favor of the Verified ones.

- IL Moderation
- Same as publication: Should they be judged at all? Is it too much work for the Judges? Should "judging" be opened to all staff, or possibly even the general community?
- If opened to the general community, how should eligible community members be determined if there isn't already an established TAS community for the game?
Individual Levels
| Level | Goal | Time | Character | Author |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dire Dire Docks | 100% | 02:15.06 | N/A | Samsara |
| Dire Dire Docks | Freerun | 03:59.99 | N/A | Samsara |
| Dire Dire Docks | Freerun | 05:11.00 | N/A | Samsara |
| Dire Dire Docks | ABC 100% | 12:15.06 | N/A | Samsara |
Multiple goals and goal variations accounted for when applicable. Level names would link to their associated subpages (see below) listing all approved runs for that level. Times would link to the input files (if provided, see IL Submission -> Idea One above), represented in this mockup by a userfile. Fastest completion categories only have top time listed on main page, categories not based on time (playarounds, freeruns, etc) will all be listed.
Currently doesn't account for encodes: See IL Publication -> Idea One above.
| Event 1: Trouble King | N/A | 00:07.08 | Mario | Samsara |
| Event 3: Bomb-fest | N/A | 00:02.670 | Jigglypuff | Samsara |
| Event 15: Girl Power | N/A | 00:06.900 | Peach | Samsara |
| Event 15: Girl Power | N/A | 00:06.969 | Luigi | Samsara |
Multiple characters on the same level also accounted for when applicable. Tables may end up being split by level in future revisions, they're currently listed together here just for the sake of example.
Hacks and Custom Levels
| Level | Goal | Time | Character | Author |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dork Town | 100% | 16:45.24 | N/A | Samsara |
| Place | Freerun | 03:59.99 | N/A | Samsara |
| 1-1 | any% | 00:15.57 | Sonic | Samsara |
ROM Hacks and custom levels accounted for in a separate section. This can also include modded characters on vanilla levels. Once again, these may end up being separated by level. This section would likely end up only containing hacks/levels that would not otherwise get their own game pages/fullgame publications.
Level Subpages
Dire Dire Docks
| Goal | Time | Character | Author |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100% | 02:15.06 | N/A | Samsara |
| 100% | 02:16.06 | N/A | Samsara |
| 100% | 02:17.06 | N/A | Not Samsara |
| 100% | 02:18.06 | N/A | Samsara |
Separate tables for each goal for organization. For readability, tables with many entries might be limited to showing 10-20 at a time, but can be expanded/paged to be able to show all approved times. Level names shouldn't be necessary here either.
| Freerun | 03:59.99 | N/A | Samsara |
| Freerun | 05:11.00 | N/A | Samsara |
| Freerun | 09:35.74 | N/A | Samsara |
Maybe give user/moderator control to "hide" or """unpublish""" ILs for whatever reason, preventing them from showing up on the game page and only allowing them on the level's subpage. This could also be how unverified runs work (IL Submission -> Idea One).
| ABC 100% | 12:15.06 | N/A | Samsara |
| ABC 100% | 13:04.87 | N/A | Samsara |

ListOfIdeas Overhaul
August 14th, 2023: Overhaul WIP is live.
- Transcribe console wishlists from the Forum
- This will be a lot of work, but hey, it makes for a much better list of ideas than what's currently there!
- Platform subpages

Merge in MoviesToObsoleteFrom2004 and MoviesToObsoleteFrom2005 and expand it to other years -
Merge in Bounties- RetroEdit: Looking at
ListOfIdeas, I think merging inBountieshad some merit in principle, but I don't like how much space it takes up on that page and how close to the top it is. I think a few sentences description and link to a subpage might be better. I think specific game ideas and the SDA section should be prioritized in the page's section ordering and organization. - Samsara: I was honestly thinking the same thing while setting it up but figured it was better to have the space filled earlier since it's going to take a while to transcribe console wishlists. This might and probably should happen once more stuff starts hitting that page.
