small improvements in a lot of places, and a bigger improvement on Macho. May submit soon, once I have an encode ready. Patched from the PRG1 Rom of MTPO (USA).
You have to put these Pass Key: 106 113 0120,then after put that Pass Key hold SELECT and press A+B (At the same time), then you have the credits that everyone wants.
This works too in Punch-Out!! featuring Mr. Dream/Punch-Out!! (1990), but it doesn't work on Punch-Out!! Gold Edition (Famicom)
RTA timing: 00:01.15
Movie objectives:
Emulator used: FCEUX 2.2.3
Start from Power-On
Problably a TAS for April Fools 2022 but it's NOT LOL
#70936773105625971 - Difficult? Punch-Out!! big improvement, but lost a second on the final fight
About 6 seconds improvement on Tiger, .01 improvement on Soda Popinski, a 0.66 improvement on Don 2, a 10.34 improvement on Macho... followed by a 1.72 time loss on the final fight. I'll try to improve it, but I just can't seem to do it right now (as in, I tried three times, each time getting me the same realtime, but 2:01.97 instead of 2:00.25.)
#70922585851784788 - Difficult? Punch-Out!! TAS v3
This is a 6-second improvement. Now, it's probably submission-worthy, but I'll have to check a possible improvement I just thought of, on Great Tiger.
Edit: The original improvement I thought of didn't work, but I still found a massive improvement: one on Tiger, Soda, Macho, and I believe Don 2. Trying to either tie or improve the time of the final fight, now it's giving me a 2:01 instead of 2:00.
This is McHazard's TAS of MTPO, converted to FCEUX's file format (.fm2) for easier playback. The movie in the original form doesn't sync in BizHawk versions past 1.7.0, and I wanted everyone to have a way to play it back.
This is a great improvement. Uses QuickNES because it is more accurate in terms of audio, and I can't see anything so audio is all I have. I get that NESHawk may be more accurate in terms of graphics, but QuickNES is a lot better in terms of sound.
Here's the List of times:
King Hippo (37.61): Perfect.
Great Tiger (47.48): Also perfect.
Piston Honda (39.97): Changed the order from McHazard's TAS to reflect the order of RTA runs. Still perfect.
Soda Popinski (45.25): Soda's laugh is cut off, and for some reason, the in-game clock starts sooner, even though it's the exact same time in real time.
Bald Bull (1:08.82): Not perfect. 1:08.48 is the best one could get, but I was dumb and used the old strat.
Don Flamenco (58.25): Seemed perfect; I don't know what made me lose time.
Mr. Sandman (2:16.61): Not totally sure what caused this either.
Super Macho Man (44.25): Not perfect.
Mike Tyson (1:58): May be perfect depending on the decimal; 1:58 is good either way.
Total: 595.99=9:55.99
Total improvement: 1.82/78
Perfect time: 9:55.51 (maybe)
Lost .21 seconds on Tiger, gained a second on Kaiser, gained almost 2 seconds on Honda 1, gained half a second on Hippo, gained more than two seconds on Honda 2, more than 10 seconds on Bull 2, 17 seconds on Don 2, 2.xx seconds on Sandman, and a major 42 seconds on Tyson.
Unfortunately, I have a bad real time on Honda 2, as he gets up on the count of 8 (with a fake get-up). I'll improve this in a little while.
#57708179643301110 - MTPO Soda Clock Stop Score Strat
This demonstrates how you can use the clock stopping glitch to get a much higher score on Soda Popinski, at the expense of the fight being much much longer.
The idea is to stop the clock, then counter his hooks which only do 1 pt of damaage and can give a star.
To do this optimally TAS wise is not very trivial. After every hook, you do need to luck manipulate him to do hooks again, which he can every time (this video doesn't because i was lazy). Also some of the stars are not guaranteed and need luck manipulation (50% chance)
This is a 0.41 second improvement to my last TAS thanks to figuring out a modification to the current strategy and mPap's human theory videos. I copied up to Honda 2 and did the rest myself. Thanks and enjoy!
