Pocket Monsters: Green Version is a role-playing game for the Game Boy and a counterpart to Pokémon Red and Blue that was released only in Japan. In terms of gameplay differences, Pocket Monsters: Green Version is effectively the same game as Pokémon Blue. The Pokémon that can only be found in those versions are exactly the same. The only other differences are updated sound and graphics and the removal of a few software bugs.

For this run, CasualPokePlayer decides not to corrupt the save files to and instead uses a different method of tricking and beating the game. They exploit bugs unique to the first version of Green Version to execute arbitrary code that triggers the Hall of Fame sequence at the end of the game.
