12:33:44 PM <Mothrayas> "I got an oof with my game!"
Mothrayas Today at 12:22: <Colin> thank you for supporting noble causes such as my feet
MemoryTAS Today at 11:55 AM: you wouldn't know beauty if it slapped you in the face with a giant fish
[Today at 4:51 PM] Mothrayas: although if you like your own tweets that's the online equivalent of sniffing your own farts and probably tells a lot about you as a person
MemoryTAS Today at 7:01 PM: But I exert big staff energy honestly lol
Samsara Today at 1:20 PM: wouldn't ACE in a real life TAS just stand for Actually Cease Existing
I added some of the requested runs along with some other fun AFD submissions. Apparently dozens of DailyMotion's thumbnails expired(?) so I also replaced those with their archive.org equivalents.
There are a few runs that have no encodes at the moment. Some may have been auto-set to Private by YouTube, so we might first want to contact each of the uploaders and see if they can fix it on their end. If not, we might need helpers to re-encode these videos on their own channel(s).
Gruefood Delight entries with no encode:
#5656: Soig's Genesis Contra: Hard Corps "100%" in 1:17:21.79#5066: dekutony's NES Pocket Monster in 00:51.91#5073: Samsara's Windows Minecraft "game end glitch" in 05:11.35 (Actually, Samsara mentioned that the joke died with the removal of the encode; do we still want to keep this run on Gruefood Delight?)
EDIT: Despoa is making new encodes for these and other Gruefood runs, which are already being added to the GD page.
How about adding this one to the Technical Foul section?
#7009: itsPersonnal's GC SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom in 39:53.67
Like Metroid Prime, which is already on the page, 7009S was a highly anticipated run that ran into sync issues. It's a good TAS of a good speedgame, and people may come to the site looking specifically for it. Gruefood Delight would be a good place to do so, especially since Metroid Prime is already there.
I started encoding runs from Gruefood Delight to replace encodes with rough quality and that have been taken down from YouTube.
Encodes I've uploaded so far:
You know, on the topic of the Somari submission, there are two things that kind of bother me in the rejection reasons: well, first of all, it's poorly optimized and I'm not disputing that, but this is a bootleg Sonic game, so it should have been judged off of the standard that Sonic submissions have (as far as I'm aware) always used of In-Game Time. And secondly, "This is probably a bad game choice."? Ehmmmm.... no? Even based off of the standards back then, Somari is an inherently notable and interesting NES game, even if it's a bootleg of dubious quality and polish. And I'm 99% sure that a properly optimized run could easily pass on today's site, but I have to wonder if that sort of opinionated comment on "bad game choice" might be a factor in turning people off who might otherwise record a run for it. Something to consider....
Reiterating my above post, as the aforementioned submission has now been published and several other submissions on the page are either published or are in the process of being published.
