I like the idea of listing movies that a person enjoys for whatever reason. I think it's fascinating. Inspired by (and copycatting) pages linked to in forum signatures that (ab)use movies.cgi, and egged on by the discovery of the DisplayMovie module (which can embed the same thing into pages with other arbitrary content, like this bloated sentence), here is an annotated list of my movie suggestions.
This list is not a list of my "favorite" movies though. It is a list of possibly overlooked yet very entertaining movies. I also tried to pick mostly games that I had no prior experience with as well.
Order is random as are the reasons for inclusion.

One of the most surprising movies I've seen, this obscure adventure game is incredibly fast.

Legacy of the Wizard (1987), released in Japan as "ドラゴンスレイヤーIV Dragon Slayer IV: Drasle Family", is actually a part of Dragon Slayer series. This is a nonlinear platforming adventure game, in which you gain control over one member of the Drasle family to explore the vast dungeon filled with mind bending puzzles and obscure secrets.
The goal of the game is to retrieve a powerful sword named Dragon Slayer, protected by four magical crowns, to kill an evil dragon trapped in the nearby labyrinth. Each member of the family has different abilities, and the portion of the labyrinth only he/she can go into to retrieve one of the crowns. However, this prerequisite was circumvented by the clever use of certain new glitches.
According to the author, this movie employs a completely different route, better luck manipulation and some new tricks that result in a 3:38 faster movie than the previous version.
Moral of this movie: Beware of short fat men, for they're surprisingly quick.

A Boy and His Blob: Trouble on Blobolonia (1989) is a popular, whimsical game in which a shapeshifting blob (named Blobert) from the planet Blobolonia teams up with an Earth boy to overcome obstacles on both planets and to defeat Blobolonia's evil emperor.
This movie is ~11 seconds faster than the previous version by the same author, due to better control of the boy's acceleration.

The Battle of Olympus (オリュンポスの戦い) is set in ancient Greece. A mortal man named Orpheus receives help from the gods and nymphs in his quest to save his lover Helene from Hades. People often compare this game with Zelda 2 because of its similar gameplay.
This movie is 9:11 faster than Arc's version, mostly because of the utilization of a gameplay-altering glitch: pressing Left+Right simultaneously in order to make Orpheus move with almost unlimited velocity growth. The trick is documented at GameResources/NES/BattleOfOlympus.
The route used in this movie is decided by a few things the hero (Orpheus) must do:
  • Collect three fragments of love in order to activate the Tartarus entry.
  • Get a key to access the second fragment's location.
  • Get the Eyeball of Graeae to see invisible doors (to access the first fragment's location).
  • Get a sword in Peloponnesus. It is needed to kill the three-headed guardian with respawning heads (Cerberus) in Tartarus.
  • Collect 60 olives in order to buy the ocarina, which will be needed to cross the sea to get to Crete and Tartarus.
  • Get a harp in order to call Pegasus. It makes the route faster.

In this one you star as Ace Harding, a detective who wakes up having no idea who or where he is. As the game progresses you discover that you have been framed for a crime you didn't commit, and must find a way to clear your name.
This is a 22 second improvement over the author's previous attempt by a slight route change and improved menu navigation.

Hammerin' Harry is a pretty simple platformer. Armed with a big hammer, you make your way through 5 levels, and the first 3 levels have bonus levels as well. At the end of each level there is a boss, and in some levels, there are also mini-bosses. In short, this game is a "normal" platformer, you won't have a hard time figuring out what's going on.

Maniac Mansion (1990) is a unique game that has weird humor and crazy music. It features cutscenes, multiple ways to win, useless items (like Chuck the Plant), and microwavable hamsters. In the storyline, Dave and two of his friends infiltrate the Edison family's mansion in order to rescue Dave's girlfriend. In order to save her, the teens must get access to the inner lab, deal with Purple Tentacle, shut down the ZOM-B-MATIC, and defeat the evil Meteor.

A unique and odd puzzle/adventure game with some glitchy goodness

Published on 7/23/2007
Mighty Bomb Jack is a game where Jack goes to rescue his family from a pyramid. Along the way, he meets many enemies who start as mummies and change forms when they hit the ground. He also finds bomb-filled rooms at the end of each round, which work like warp rooms with a twist: you can warp ahead to the bomb room of the next round if the first lit bomb is the last bomb collected. Using this, the author warps past many rounds.
However, this movie aims for the best ending, which is obtained by freeing all the family members in Round 12. This means that the author avoids warping past some rounds in order to collect items. For more details, read the submission comments.

Amazingly, despite the game being almost as asexual as possible, mmbossman manages to cop a good feel of one of the Queens.

I don't even like football (U) that much, but this is one of the funniest runs on the site.

Published on 1/11/2008
This movie doesn't aim to run up the score. Instead, it plays an entertaining game of American football by keeping the score close for drama and by utilizing a variety of wild plays with interceptions, fumbles, impossibly long passes, etc. Thus, the movie manipulates luck often.
In addition, the author exploits a number of bizarre bugs, such as CPU players tackling their own teammate, and a very unorthodox final play.
True tecmobowlers will enjoy the team choice and final score.

Tiny Toon Adventures (1993), based on a cartoon show of the same name, is a fairly easy game to play. However, it has a nasty bug lurking within it: if you press left and right simultaneously (you can do it if you break your controller's directional pivot), you can get some impressive momentum.
This along with Furball's "walljumping" is heavily abused in this movie, resulting in an impressive 10 second improvement to the previous movie by the same author.

Monsters have blown up and escaped from a top secret Psychic Research facility and stolen one of the lovely lab assistants as well. Dr. Knavik gives Lucia his precious ESP Booster to save her twin sister Cecile.
By collecting various items on her travels, the ESP Booster grants Lucia various powers (kind of like Mega Man...) to destroy her enemies and also navigate quickly through levels. This is exacerbated for the author by poor hit detection and finicky input control. Input is only allowed one time every four frames. Nevertheless the end result is a fast paced and varied movie.

A game based on the show Samurai Pizza Cats. Five characters are available, but one (Batcat) is used extensively because his ability of flight leads to many shortcuts.
This game has a glitch enabling one-frame boss fights. To quote the author: If the team leader executes a level three ninpo attack on the first frame of combat, the boss is dead. Right there, dead, even the ones that don't show up immediately. As pulling this off requires your weapon to be maxed out, this saves anywhere from a great deal of time (first level) to a little bit (last level).

Wetrix is a strange Tetris-style game in which you place blocks onto a large playing field and score loads of points by making lakes and surviving another second (every drop of water that leaks off the field counts against you). This run aims to get the highest score possible in the 1 minute challenge.
