Hello and welcome to Load State! I'm ikuyo, the lady that TASes less than she writes about it, and I'll be your guide today! So, what is this about? TASVideos is on a very good spot regarding publication and submission rates at the moment. Thanks to the tireless work of staff and the creative output of our users, we have consistently been hitting double digit publications and submissions each month for years now. While we usually acknowledge them during end of year Awards season, I feel it can be very easy to skim through our publication lists and feel a bit lost, especially as TAS work becomes more refined and specialized. I can't solve this problem myself, but I can offer a guide: Load State (I had to give it a TAS related name, sorry, I don't make the rules) is a monthly recap of everything TASVideos has published the last month! While I can't spotlight every TAS on our site, I can give you a sample of the work being done in different pockets of our community. Maybe you will find a new TASer to enjoy, a cool game worth checking out, an improvement waiting to be done, or at least have some fun for a couple hours watching this hand-picked selection of movies. Hope you enjoy! Fifty movies were published during the month of May, so let's take a look at some of my favorites and notable ones: That's my personal choice for TASes this month. Thanks to all the authors and members who make this possible! If you have a personal favorite you think deserves some love, let us all know.

Hello there and welcome to the third edition of Load State! I'm ikuyo, the Scattered one, and I bring you my own little summary of the publications on the site during the last month. July gave us 39 unique publications to look into, so let's go ahead and highlight some I found noteworthy or interesting. As usual, feel free to share your own picks on our Discord server or in the forums! And with that, we're at the end of our journey! Thanks, as usual, for reading this list and I hope it was enjoyable. See you next month!

Sorry for the delay and welcome to the August 2025 issue of Load State! I'm ikuyo, official TASVideos yapper, to tell you about some of my favorite published movies from the last month. No joke, August turned out to be a difficult month to write for, and not for lack of TASes. Quite to the contrary, I have a lot of movies to talk about and a lot to say about them. Let's get on with it! And with that, we're done! Thanks for joining me in this trip across the TASVideos publication feed. See you next month, and happy TASing!

Hello! Glad to see you, you're just in time. Grab a seat and some water or equivalently good beverage, for we are entering the Load State! I'm ikuyo, speedrunner assisted with a sledgehammer, and we got a wonderful month to go thru! October is a generally busy month when it comes to TAS work, and we had 41 publications this month. As usual, let's look at some recommendations I think you would enjoy: Wow, this month was packed! Tool Assisted Goodness of all shapes and sizes, so this month's list is a bit longer than usual. I hope you enjoyed this tour, and see you next month for another visit to the Load State. Bye!

Hello, and welcome to another issue of Load State! I’m InputEvelution, local TAS enjoyer, and I’ll be guest writing this time as we go over some of last month’s publications. Apologies for the delay, and I hope it’ll be worth the wait! November was an especially packed month on the site, with a total of 59 movies from 40 authors - 42 of which came just in the latter half with an average of almost 3 publications per day! This time, I’d like to put a spotlight on the specialisation of TASing - namely, the way that new TASes often correspond to broader trends across their author’s previous work. Without further ado, let’s get into it!
  • ThunderAxe31 returned to GBA Pac-Man World for the third time with another set of improvements and optimisations, as well as a brand new movie in the form of [6846] GBA Pac-Man World "maximum kills, all items" by ThunderAxe31 in 38:04.693. This category showcases some really interesting routing and movement not seen in the any% and 100% publications, and is easily worth a watch for those already familiar with the game.
  • Toms made his publication debut with [6801] NES Escalator by Toms in 00:20.483, a short Super Mario Bros. ROM hack that nonetheless opens up new optimisation considerations with its core gimmick. SMB1 is a common first choice for new submitters, and to produce high quality work on the first try is no easy feat. Please give him a warm welcome!
  • In other Super Mario Bros. content, we have [6812] NES fullmoon. by fella8 in 07:07.962 from fella8, another TASer who made his start in SMB1 ROM hacks with Celeste Mario’s Zip and Dash! This improves upon the previous movie by HappyLee, while also showcasing extra levels not previously seen on the site.
  • Rxser, most well known for his work on countless Flash puzzle and escape room games, changes things up a bit with [6803] Flash Don't Look Back by Rxser in 04:20.900, a platformer with a surprising amount of RNG manipulation work behind it. Be sure to give it a watch!
  • And if you’re looking for more point-and-click puzzle and escape room content, long-time site member Twisted_Eye has you covered with [6837] DOS Are You Afraid of the Dark? The Tale of Orpheo's Curse by Twisted_Eye in 16:38.526, showcasing a spooky FMV adventure game from his childhood.
  • [6804] DS Crash Boom Bang! by PeteThePlayer in 15:40.660 is PeteThePlayer’s debut movie, having first started with the game as an RTA runner. They display an incredible degree of mastery and understanding of the game’s RNG systems, ultimately beating the game in under half the time of its RTA world record. Make sure to check it out!
  • slamo, a veteran DOS TASer with more than 25 published movies for the platform under their belt, returns for the release of BizHawk 2.11 with two more submissions. Of these, [6806] DOS Epic Pinball "Crash and Burn" by slamo in 02:17.288 features a lot of impressive resource management to complete multiple objectives at once within the game’s limitations, as well as an incredibly entertaining strategy towards the end.
  • EZGames69 is a frequent collaborator with other TASers on projects spanning various genres and platforms, this time collaborating with RetroEdit on [6808] Genesis Spider-Man "Easy" by EZGames69 & RetroEdit in 04:10.339. Together they break open the game in a variety of interesting ways, some of which were only recently made possible thanks to improved emulation quality.
  • Speaking of collaboration, Avouca and passere once again joined forces to produce [6819] PSX Looney Tunes: Sheep Raider "all levels" by Avouca & passere in 50:12.956, showcasing various amusing glitches, skips, and manipulation of AI throughout to comedic effect befitting for a TAS of a Looney Tunes game. passere also has a video commentary for those interested in learning more.
  • zapkt made their site debut with [6810] Flash Super Karoshi by zapkt in 07:10.814, a puzzle-platform game with non-conventional solutions that lends itself well to a TAS. An increasing number of newer TASers have been making their start with Flash and Linux games, something I’d attribute to their popularity among newer generations of players. Welcome to the site!
  • Uroboros returned from a long TASing hiatus to bring more Resident Evil content with [6811] GC Resident Evil – Code: Veronica X by Uroboros in 1:39:23.000. Welcome back! This run features a lot of careful optimisation and tricks that aren’t necessarily obvious to those not familiar with the games, so I highly recommend looking at the submission notes for more details on the work that went into this.
  • Many of keylie’s submissions of Linux games go hand-in-hand with his development work on libTAS, and [6813] Linux Axiom Verge by keylie in 20:48.996 was no exception. Improvements in game knowledge, optimisation and new tricks made possible by libTAS’s improved support for variable framerates combine to produce an incredibly entertaining movie, improving the previous iteration by nearly 4 minutes.
  • Tbone500 had their first TASVideos publication with [6815] GC Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu 10 Chou Ketteiban: 2003 Memorial "Success" by Tbone500 in 49:03.317, having already made Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu content on their own YouTube channel for years prior. Extensive RNG manipulation is employed throughout to ensure that balls are batted directly into the fielders’ hands at every turn, winning 7 full baseball games in under an hour. Great work!
  • OmerAras55 had two TASes of Mario Forever: Community Edition published this month, utilising his existing knowledge of the game as an RTA runner to great effect. Of the two, [6854] Linux Mario Forever: Community Edition "warpless" by OmerAras55 in 27:30.067 is my personal favourite due to its greater variety of content and pacing.
  • [6818] DS Disney's Kim Possible: Kimmunicator by SuperSqank in 19:51.437 is the latest in SuperSqank’s series of TASes of licensed 2000s handheld games, and I’m all here for it! As someone who grew up with a lot of shovelware from that time, I’m always interested to see the unique glitches and movement tech that can come out of these games sometimes, and this publication easily met my expectations.
  • KusogeMan has submitted a wide variety of fighting games to the site over the last few years, most of them for consoles. [6826] Arcade Art of Fighting 3: The Path of the Warrior by KusogeMan in 02:48.977 sees them return to the arcade with a movie full of intense, fast-paced action that’ll be sure to keep you engaged - all while using a character typically considered low-tier!
  • While most TASers stick to a specific series, genre or platform of specialisation, some deliberately choose to branch out as much as possible. Darkman425 is one of these players, managing to check DOS off the “All Platforms Challenge” checklist with [6822] DOS Best of ZZT "Royal Treasures" by Darkman425 in 00:50.794, in part thanks to BizHawk 2.11’s new DOSBox-X core.
  • Speaking of large-scale challenges, nymx has been on a long-running quest to TAS as many games featured in the Compute!’s Gazette magazine series as possible. [6838] C64 Give 'N' Take "maximum score" by nymx in 04:24.366 marks their 100th TAS in the series (amazing work!!), and features some very carefully researched strategy that you can read more about in the submission notes.
  • [6831] NES Binary Land by AmaizumiUni in 03:52.234 marks yet another TAS of a Japan-exclusive game by AmaizumiUni, bringing more attention to parts of the NES library that have typically gone overlooked by the English-speaking community. I really enjoyed watching this, and I hope to play Binary Land for myself at some point!
  • Danius, another newcomer for the site in November, knocked it out of the park with [6833] 3DS Shantae and the Pirate's Curse by Danius in 57:18.790, showcasing an impressive level of tech execution and luck manipulation throughout, especially coming from someone with no apparent previous speedrunning experience. Make sure to check this out!
  • NemoRuby is one of a few prominent TASers of NES Mega Man ROM hacks on the site from the past few years, this time delivering [6834] NES Rockman 3: Stalker Attack by NemoRuby in 25:11.627, an improvement of nearly 10 seconds with a new route and small optimisations throughout the run.
  • Stockiel is our last newcomer for November with [6840] DOS Sonic the Hedgehog by Stockiel in 01:57.280. While this fangame is reasonably short, I know from experience how difficult PCem and libTAS can be to work with sometimes, so to start off with such a challenging workflow is really commendable!
  • [6841] Flash Bad Piggies 2 by Mikewillplays in 03:29.167 sees Mikewillplays tackle yet another deeply interesting Flash game, showcasing a wide range of hilarious puzzle solutions that took me back to my memories playing the first game on a tablet. Excellent work!
  • DigitalDuck has built an extensive TAS and RTA speedrunning repertoire out of ZX Spectrum games, this month presenting [6847] ZXS Jet Set Willy II: The Final Frontier "100%" by DigitalDuck in 38:51.264. The wide range of items that need to be collected (175 in total), the size of the map, and the various glitches available combine together to make a very interesting route, one that particularly appealed to me as a fan of collectathons.
  • For the last movie on this list, we have [6848] DS Newer Super Mario Bros. DS "warps" by Glitchman24 in 26:05.220. Glitchman24 has a history of TASing the New Super Mario Bros. games, but this is their first solo submission to the site, improving upon the previous movie while also making sure to keep things interesting during the autoscroller levels.
That’s all for Load State this time! Thanks for joining me for my guest appearance - I hope I was able to fill ikuyo’s shoes on this one. See you next month!

Hello! Nice to be back. This is ikuyo, aspiring fighter, and I'm back for our first 2026 edition of Load State! ... Wait what do you mean I still got 2025 to cover? By the way, I hope you all enjoyed InputEvelution's guest appearance last month. Every so often, you can expect some other staff member to show up and write this post. Each of us have our own preferences, priorities and feelings about the medium, and I think it's great to see all of those things come thru as they talk about what TAS work resonates with them. I'll keep you on your toes though, so don't expect much announcement beforehand. Anyway, we got some movies to go thru! December is always a month with a lot of movies, as people find time during the holidays to make stuff.
  • [6860] SNES Verne World by AmaizumiUni in 4:15:11.517 is a lenghty and somewhat obscure SNES RPG, and exactly the kind of game I would expect AmaizumiUni to eventually tackle. Their work never fails to introduce me to some hidden gems (this game doesn't even have a speedrun.com page), and the execution is clean and professional.
  • Merl_ has become a specialist on indie games for both Flash and PICO8, and I will always have a soft spot for short and sweet nonlinear platformers in the vein of Bobl. As such, [6862] PICO8 Rolly by Merl_ in 02:41.933 was right up my alley. Butter smooth movement and clever death abuse makes for a breezy watch.
  • In their second publication to the site, M3 gave us [6864] PSX Mega Man X6 "100%" by M3 in 58:34.695, an almost two minute improvement over the previous publication, thanks to several discoveries both big and small, as well as improved execution. For fans of this classic series, this is a must watch!
  • As you well know from me, I see TASing as a form of game preservation. And, following that, TASes of "bad" or "shovelware" games will always hold a special place in my heart. As such, I ought to recommend [6865] DS Emma at the Farm by toca in 11:49.172. I am also a big fan of how seriously toca is committed to all his work, even for games like this. The submission notes for this movie are insightful and carefully crafted, just like the movie itself. Bad games deserve love!
  • If you're in the mood for a short platformer with subtle optimizations all the way thru, [6866] Arcade Mr. Goemon by EZGames69 in 06:54.472 is fun and endearing. EZGames69 is an experienced TASer that I've had the pleasure to work with in the past and his output is polished as you would expect from a seasoned TASer.
  • [6869] SNES VP of Goof Troop "2 players" by LeHulk in 14:48.553 is a wonderful time. LeHulk is a dedicated SNES TASer with a small but great body of work, and this Goof Troop ROM hack is fertile ground for smart routing seasoned with expressive playaround elements.
  • For my RPG enthusiasts, we have a lot of lenghty movies to go thru. Aside from Verne shown above, I can recommend [6873] 3DS Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey by Tegron in 4:15:45.516, a rather infamous remake in the Mario & Luigi saga. Tegron has taken it upon himself to make movies out of every single 3DS Mario RPG, and all of them have been great to watch.
  • I admit it, I have a weakness. I love women who can hit OTG. If you do too, please give [6875] Arcade Superior Soldiers "no damage" by CoolHandMike in 05:09.183, as CoolHandMike delivers a quick and painful beating to this game while taking no damage in return.
  • Back to RPGs, how about a funny Pokemon clone? Non-Pokemon monster RPGs are weirdly underexplored in TASing, and it feels fitting that CasualPokePlayer, already well versed in Pokemon, would tackle a movie like [6877] DSi Crystal Monsters by CasualPokePlayer in 54:19.464. And, if I say so myself, it was a super effective choice.
  • I'm always compelled to mention the Staff's efforts to reevaluate old rejected movies, and I can't let this gem slide. [6878] Genesis A Q Lián Huán Pào "Society" by Aqfaq in 05:08.330 is an obscure unlicensed game that was first submitted 14 years ago! And now it is published and available for your enjoyment. Aqfaq has a long TASing record in older systems and you can absolutely tell, even for a movie as old as this one.
  • Double debut movie coming thru! [6880] NES Super Mario Bros. - Two Players Hack by SMBistic & Arbono in 04:54.715 is the first publication for both its authors, fittingly working together on a fun two-player ROM hack of Super Mario Bros. Welcome to TASVideos, SMBistic and Arbono! Excited to see more from you in the future.
  • Cephla is a rather unique TASer. Her work always leads me to interesting, unique games I would have not heard of if it wasn't for her. [6884] GBA The Hat Chooses The Wizard by Cephla in 01:09.147 is no exception, and is itself a beautiful movie thanks to a fun mechanic that the author exploits to its fullest. If you crave some fun platforming action, you will be quite happy with this one!
  • I've been recently playing thru the SNES port of Another World (RIP, Burger Becky), and as such, this game has been fresh on my mind. As such, I must bring up [6893] 3DO Out of This World by eien86 in 09:29.217, crafted by the always dedicated eien86, who has had a quite prolific year.
  • In another wonderful debut, say hello to GTFoxN6Y0899 and his first movie, [6894] GBA Little Einsteins by GTFoxN6Y0899 in 23:57.428. While the movie appears simple, there's a lot of small optimizations, and it narrowly beats the RTA WR... despite playing on a much harder difficulty. Nice work, and welcome!
  • Look, you don't get to talk about the TI83 calculator TASing scene often. So, for those craving calculator action, look no further than [6897] TI83 Mega Man 83-ASM by Twisted_Eye in 07:39.667, with all the superhuman goodness Twisted_Eye can add. Even these systems give a lot of room for fun and creative movement! Look at those boss fights!
  • [6900] N64 Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine "all story levels" by Bovice in 45:23.500 is an extremely impressive debut TAS that had me cackling with glee less than a minute in. Bovice finds new ways to break every level, each more impressive than the last. Do yourself a favor and go watch it!
  • I wasn''t sure what to expect when I started watching [6904] Genesis Micro Machines: Turbo Tournament '96 "Pro Head To Head" by TheRandomPie_IV in 11:17.224. But the moment I saw some aggressive offroad driving to "eliminate" the opponent, I knew I was in for a fun ride. TheRandomPie_IV has no problem playing dirty, and neither does the game, making for a deadly combination as the author abuses every loophole to win as fast as possible.
  • Uroboros, the resident Resident Evil TASer, returns after 8 years with [6909] GC Resident Evil 2 "Claire B" by Uroboros in 49:51.208. With razor sharp movement and precise shooting whenever needed, this classic survival horror game is defeated with the superhuman precision we are all about here.
  • [6918] NES Spacegulls by Induviel & DrD2k9 in 04:44.897 is a short and fun action platformer for the NES, and Induviel's work gets a push from DrD2k9 (the first judge of the movie), as their efforts combined improve the existing movie by over 4 seconds.
  • Need some beat em up action? Vatchern got you covered! [6926] SNES Battletoads in Battlemaniacs "Pimple" by Vatchern in 19:18.359 is speedy, aggressive, fun, and has both great movement and fun hitbox shenanigans as Pimple kicks and headbutts his way through the game.
  • In his first movie on the site, deogenerate delivers a significant improvement in [6927] GBA Castlevania: Circle of the Moon "warp glitch" by deogenerate in 04:59.326, with a combination of better execution and a brand new glitch to kill Dracula once again. Thank you!
Alright, so that was a wrap! There's a lot of other movies I didn't have a lot of time to mention. The last week of this month was incredibly stacked. As usual, go and watch as many movies as you can, whether or not I name them here. And with this, I get to say goodbye to the first year of Load State. Thank you a lot for letting me yap about TASes of all shapes and sizes. It's been an honor to have this space to share my voice, my preferences on TASing and the kind of work and games I love. If I may, I would like to ask one thing: let me hear yours. The 2025 edition of the TASVideos Awards is already open for nominations! Go share your love for your favorite movies and your fellow TAS makers. No matter how small you think your opinion is, I assure you, nothing makes the effort, dedication and time that tool assisted movies take than knowing someone else out there appreciates the work the authors have put on them. Go talk about it! Nominate your favorite movies, from the big hits to your personal deep cuts. Name your favorite creators! Talk about them. Talk with them, even! Keep making things. And keep sharing the things you love. Your love for this hobby is what keeps this site going. Thank you, and see you next month.

Sounds a bit weird, considering that "Claire B" was simply rejudged after dusting the gruefood for 8 years. Nevertheless, Uroboros indeed returned after 8 years, but with a different movie: [6811] GC Resident Evil – Code: Veronica X by Uroboros in 1:39:23.000
TASing is like making a film: only the best takes are shown in the final movie.

Hello! Sorry for the delay. I am ikuyo, tireless and tired, and I'm here today for... well, you know at this point. Let's do the Load State, shall we? January is a somewhat slow month for TASing, as people usually spend their holiday time elsewhere. The work we get to publish during the month is still worth appreciating! Thank you for reading this short, but sweet look at the TAS work of this month. Once again, I would like to apologize for the delay. I hope to have this on the proper date for the next month. See you soon, and keep on playing!
