Hello!. My name is Colin. Most refer to me as "EZGames69", "EZGames", or just EZ. I'm a 24 year old dude who likes retro video games and loves learning all about them. Since speed running is all about running games old and new, I tried to get involved as much as I could.
I first joined TASVideos around September of 2017 where my first movie was published: [3515] GBA Dora the Explorer: Super Spies by EZGames69 in 22:57.41. At the time it was the coolest experience to get a movie I made onto the website. while the movie itself may not be that significant, It was definitely significant to me. Ever since then, I've learned alot about how games work and have had so much fun getting major nostalgia from working with the systems I grew up with.
One of the things I aim for on this site is to find games that dont have movies. It doesnt matter if the game would make a good speedrun or not, it just matters if there isnt one. there are so many games out there that either no one knows about or dont care enough to TAS. I believe that almost every game should be represented with a movie of its own. Some games that make for a really good speed game may not have alot of players for it, making the chances of someone coming in an TASing it small. I want to do as much as I can to find games without movies and make them. the benifit to this is it gives me more experience with different kinds of games mechanics, so maybe in the future things I learned from doing one game can carry on to the next one I do.

The game was given the KidStuff panel on the cover art; meaning it was aimed at gamers under the age of nine. Altered Beast is originally an arcade game. In each level, the player must collect 3 powerups in order to transform into a powerful beast and fight the boss of that level. This game was one of the first games of the Sega Genesis system, and was first bundled with it.
This might look like it's an auto-scrolling game, but in fact the scroll speed depends on the number of enemies on screen. The player tries to kill all enemies as soon as possible to increase the scroll speed, using 2 characters to maximize this process.

Even the worst video games ever made can make for a good TAS.
This movie speedily plays through "The Cheetahmen", game #52 of a compilation of horrid games called Action 52. While the game is pretty horrible in general, it has a rather catchy BGM.
EZGames69 and Samsara improve the previous movie by 44.76 seconds, thanks to better optimisation and using a warp in the 5th level to spawn the last boss early in a glitched up level.
There are also two published runs of the unreleased sequel, Cheetahmen II. One plays through all the levels, whilst the other starts from level 5 from power-on, due to abusing the fact that some games do not initialize their states before reading them.

Even the worst video games ever made can make for a good TAS.
The Cheetahmen is game #52 in Action 52, probably the most infamous multi-game cartridge released for the NES. The story goes that the "Action Gamemaster" (i.e. some guy) was playing his video game when three Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle ripoffs pull him through the TV and into their world. They tell him that there are enemies in their world and then leave him behind to fight the enemies.
In this run, EZGames69 and Samsara decide not to use any warps that can skip large portions of each level. This includes the glitch in level 5 that can warp the player to a grey void that has a chance of spawning the final boss.

Created by a Japanese comedian who hated video games, Takeshi no Chousenjou (also referred to as Takeshi's Challenge) is a parody of video games in a similar vein to Penn & Teller's Smoke and Mirrors. The game was meant to be near impossible to complete. Rumor has it that at one point the player must leave the controller untouched for 1 hour and fight a "final boss" with over a million hit-points. Although this isn't true, the game makes no sense, which is why it is so hard to beat.
This run completes the game in under 4 minutes by simply walking off the edge of existence, jumping around in another dimension, and magically ending at the final treasure room. The authors, illayaya and EZGames69 manage to save 2 frames over their previous run.

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link is quite different from most of the early games in the Legend of Zelda series. It combines an overworld view with side-scrolling platform stages. In addition, the character can gain experience and levels, visit towns, and earn spells and items which are needed to proceed.
However, the game also has a large glitch which produces massive speed when both Left and Right are pressed at the same time; due to the use of this and other glitches, most of this run features Link racing across Hyrule so fast that the screen can't keep up, and inexplicably warping between places that shouldn't be connected. Only a few items and one spell are collected, and the only enemy ever fought is the final boss. Luckily, he takes the same amount of damage no matter what level attack you have.
In this run, EZGames69 improves on the previous efforts by 0.03 seconds (2 frames), thanks to an earlier first hit in fight against Dark Link.
We also have a run that completes the six palaces without using the Left + Right glitch to turn the game into a barely comprehensible mess (but does allow the use of glitched warps) and another run that disallows both the Left + Right glitch and the use of glitched warps.

Splatterhouse 2 is a beat 'em up game featuring a skull-masked guy named Rick fighting against undead creatures. Rick is plagued with nightmares that he couldn’t save his girlfriend Jennifer in the first game. The Skull-like mask tells Rick that Jennifer can still be saved, so he returns to the Splatterhouse in hopes of saving his girlfriend.
Watch as EZGames69 takes a leisurely walk by hordes of zombies and other disgusting monsters, abusing some sliding tricks to maintain fast speed and defeat bosses quickly.
EZGames69 improves the previous run done by Aqfaq by 128 frames. The movie time appears longer due to more accurate emulation of non-gameplay segments.

Note: The game is unofficially rated "PG-13" for violence and gruesome images. The game was later officially rated 17+ or M rated by the ESRB.

In City Connection you must drive along on roads, painting them a different color. When you have all the roads painted, you go on to the next level. Cops are frequent along the roads, but oil cans will quickly stop them in their tracks. Avoid cats and spikes, and collect balloons to warp to further levels.
In this run, link_7777 & EZGames69 beat all 6 unique levels of this game and don't take any warps.

Created by a Japanese comedian who hated video games, Takeshi no Chousenjou (also referred to as Takeshi's Challange) was meant to be near impossible to complete. Rumor has it that at one point the player must leave the controller untouched for 1 hour and fight a "final boss" with over a million hit-points. Although this isn't true, the game makes no sense, which is why it is so hard to beat.
The authors, illayaya and EZGames69, instead complete the game in a mere 4 minutes by simply walking off the edge of existence and magically ending at the final treasure room.
This movie is 2 frames faster than the previous record.
If you want to see more of the game, we also have a run that forgoes the warp glitch.

This run features all the trappings of a prehistoric blockbuster adventure, including fire breathing, jungle platforming, raging on huge dinosaurs before they know what hit them, and raw meat.

Rick and his girlfriend Jennifer enter West Mansion (known as Splatterhouse) to study Dr. West's parapsychology teachings for a school project. After a flash of lightning and a scream, Jennifer is gone, and Rick is left wearing the Terror Mask, which gives the wearer great strength.
Splatterhouse is the first game in the series, but only the second game to appear on a home console (after Splatterhouse: Wanpaku Graffiti on the Famicom), which was later continued on the Sega Genesis.
This run is an improvement of 00:03.11 seconds over the previous work by Samsara. The improvements comes from better optimization and some slightly better boss fights.

Note: The movie file plays well on both region versions of this game, so we provide encodes for both of them, since they have significant differences. The first encodes feature the Japanese version, whereas the second ones show the American version, which had all religious references removed and the colour of the mask changed to red (and its form changed).

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for the Sega Saturn is a port of the popular PSX game of the same name. This version features the console-exclusive character Maria, who easily blazes through the castle, proving that she's not just another damsel in distress. EZGames69 uses a combination of magic powers, kicks, glitches and luck manipulation to free the world, yet again, from Dracula's minions.
EZGames69 improved the previous movie with better optimization. The movie time appears longer due to including the BIOS sequence and generally more accurate Saturn emulation in BizHawk. Actual game-play improvements are detailed in this video.
For more glitching and monster killing, we also have Alucard and Richter's movies, both done on the PlayStation version.

There is also an alternate YouTube stream featuring audio commentary by the author.

Sir Tongara de Pepperouchau III ("Pepper" for short) is a toy soldier. He is in love with the Clockwork Fairy Princess, Chelsea, whose voice wakes up the toys of the house every night at midnight. But he is clumsy and something of a laughingstock, especially when compared to his friendly rival Ginger who is also after Chelsea's heart.
One night Chelsea is stolen away by an unknown force, which also hypnotizes some of the lesser toys to become fierce minions and stand in the way of anyone who would try to rescue her. If there's no voice to wake them up anymore then the toys will never live again, so Pepper and Ginger head off to find Chelsea before it's too late.
Clockwork Knight is a side-scrolling platformer developed and published by Sega. It was released in Japan on December 9, 1994, then became a launch title for the Sega Saturn in North America and Europe in 1995.
EZGames69 runs, jumps, and beats the living daylights out of bosses to finish the game in under 15 minutes.

Super Boy II is a 1989 clone of Super Mario Bros. created by the Korean pirate company Zemina (재미나, roughly translates to "It's fun!") and is the sequel to its earlier game, Super Boy I. Besides having bad controls and graphics, this game leaves out some of the original features, including warp zones, water levels, Worlds 5-8, and even the princess.
EZGames69 and Memory saved 00:10.68 seconds (if we ignore BIOS time) over the previous run by managing screen updates and Mario's speed. Actions that affect screen updates include collecting too many coins at once, hitting blocks from below, and running on falling platforms.

Mickey Mania: The Timeless Adventures of Mickey Mouse is a 1994 platformer video game developed by Traveller's Tales and published by Sony Imagesoft for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Sega Genesis, and Sega CD. In the game, the player controls Mickey Mouse, who must navigate through various side-scrolling levels, each designed and based from classical Mickey Mouse cartoons.
In this run, the authors abuse a glitch intended by the developers that allows you to bring up a “Level warp” from spawning too many sprites on the screen, beating the game in record time.

Underrated TASes I like

Totally not ripping off Samsara’s userpage or anything, and totally did not get the idea from Memory
[2641] Arcade Magician Lord by £e Nécroyeur in 07:17.73
Magician Lord is a game that you cannot predict what you’re about to see. The run is filled with so many glitches and funny moments. The highlight however is definitely the terrible locatalization of the main bad guy, which is also accompanied by an actor who actually read those lines and didn’t see anything wrong with it. It’s the type of game that you wonder why it exist and it just do.
[3531] GBA Kao the Kangaroo by TASeditor in 14:12.30
Kao the Kangaroo seems like any typical mascot platformer, but this run is entertaining to watch throughout. It was one of the first really great TASes I got to see once submitted. If only I was allowed to nominate this for stars.
[3763] SNES Hagane by Sniq in 13:12.84
Hagane is a mix of several games at once. Everything is fast paced and crazy. The movement is especially fun to watch. It also has some of the best playaround for a TAS that isn’t in stars.
[4052] Vboy Virtual Boy Wario Land by Bloopiero & Cyorter in 17:27.33
The Virtual Boy is a strange era for Nintendo, the games on it are likely overlooked due to the inaccessibility of playing on it. Wario Land Virtual Boy is one such game that is majorly overlooked due to the system it's on. This TAS is a fun reminder of the fun parts that make Tool-Assisted Speedrunning so great
[3018] Genesis Earnest Evans by Samsara in 07:36.54
This game kinda sucks, but it’s really hard to hate it or take it very seriously. The music gives an epic feel to the game but at the same time, Earnest Evans looks so goofy whaling his arms around like he does with ragdoll like physics. A TAS just takes advantage of that kind of thing and makes it a funny watch.
[1103] NES Mega Man by Deign in 15:29.27
Many people seem to prefer the current movie of this game that skips levels abruptly, however I find this movie that doesn’t do that to be far more enjoyable. It allows me to see a better majority of each level and shows off some other funny glitches that I don’t see in the current publication, like Mega Man’s head completely disappearing in the first level and even a glitch near the end of the game where Mega Man just flies vertically up and down the screen, completely out of control. It’s one of few times where I will prefer the obsoleted version of a movie over the new one.
