Hi, I'm TheCoreyBurton.
About Me
My real name is Corey Burton. I'm a 30 year old Australian Publisher here at TASVideos.
Contacting Me
If you have a question for me or need to chat, message me on the forums or pop in to IRC and see if I'm online. I try to be as helpful as possible whenever I can.
I've had success dumping with all of the following emulators and I'm willing to attempt to encode for any other emulator as necessary:
- Bizhawk
- Dolphin
- DOOM
- Famtasia
- FCEU
- FCEUX
- Final Burn Alpha
- Gens
- Hourglass
- JPC-RR
- libTAS
- lsnes
- MAME-RR
- Mupen64
- Snes9x
- VBjin
- VisualBoyAdvance
It's also worth noting that some emulators (such as Dolphin) have greatly changed their method of dumping over time. Whilst I can encode with the older versions and the AVSync builds and the newer builds with ffmpeg dumping, there are some specific revisions in the 4 series that I'm unable to dump from properly thanks to an incompatibility with VFW. Luckily, these revisions shouldn't be used in submissions any more, but it's a good example to show how a small handful of revisions can lead to an undocumented inconsistency in this listing.
These are all the movies that I've published, since becoming a publisher on the 2nd of June, 2017.
This is a list of my own encodes which have emulation faults, encode errors or are missing certain types of extra HQ. In some cases, it may only be a single encode that requires my attention. It's my intention to eventually clear this list and have everything resolved, but for now it's my to-do list:

This is a historic movie, submitted and obsoleted before the creation of the database-based (and wiki-based) site engine, before July 2004. It was inserted into the database for a history revival project by Bisqwit in autumn 2006.
When this video was first released on the Internet in mid-2003, its incredible quality of play became a phenomenon; since few people knew how the video was made, it was widely believed that it was played in real-time by an extremely skilled player. When Morimoto detailed the making of the run on his website (which can still be read here), many felt deceived and turned to criticizing the video's "illegitimacy" instead. During this time, the concept of tool-assistance was still mostly unknown, and people even went as far as claiming that Morimoto had constructed the movie in several years' time by performing video editing on every single frame of the WMV.
While this video was not the first of its kind, it was the first to gain widespread interest, and contributed greatly to the popularity of speedruns in general.

Wetrix is a strange Tetris-style game in which you place blocks onto a large playing field and score loads of points by making lakes and surviving another second (every drop of water that leaks off the field counts against you). This run aims to get the highest score possible in the 1 minute challenge.
The final score is 2,613,944 points. There are huge bonus multipliers which stack together to produce the massive score.

Annoyed with the success of the Mario Kart series, a bunch of Rare characters got together and held a racing competition of their own. Along with the availability of several types of vehicles, this game has something of a storyline to it and full completion requires reloading a saved game after the credits run for the first time. More races occur after the initial credit roll, so don't stop watching once the ending plays.

Commander Keen 5: The Armageddon Machine (1991) is a part of the popular Commander Keen saga, developed by id Software. It is a direct continuation of the previous episode, in which Keen has learned from the Oracle of Gnosticus IV that the evil Shikadi plan to blow up the galaxy with their doomsday device, the Omegamatic (
It slices! It dices! It causes a 100,000 light year-diameter quantum explosion!). Naturally, he sets out to sabotage the machine and stop the Shikadi.
Using a series of glitches, Keen completes only four stages to get to the end game, only one of which takes any significant length of time, and destroys the Quantum Explosion Dynamo, the core of the Omegamatic in the impossibly short time of 2:42. In the process, he manages to inadvertently prevent the Shikadi from accomplishing their escape (though you have to watch the ending very closely to figure out that this has happened here).
Although this is not the first submitted DOS movie, it has the distinction of being the first to be published, thanks to use of the recently approved emulator JPC-RR.

Acknowledged as one of the best Mario games of all time, Super Mario World is a must see for fans of classic games. This run completes the game fully (all 96 exits) and makes use of almost every known glitch to make it as fast and exciting as possible.
This TAS by bahamete, Kaizoman666 & Masterjun is an improvement of 06:43.97 minutes over the previous movie. The improvement comes from new glitches and better optimization.

Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. fighting game series is rather different from your typical fighting game. Instead of wearing your opponent's health down to 0, you must knock him or her out of the battlefield. Damage counts upwards, with knockback from attacks that hit you becoming more severe as your damage increases. Fighting controls are also simplified, making it very easy for even your non-gaming friends to pick up and play.
Super Smash Bros. Melee offers fighters from the wealth of Nintendo characters like Mario, Bowser, different Pokémon, Link, and Kirby. They can either fight through the single-player modes like Classic, Adventure, and Event Mode, or they battle it out against other characters in a four-player frenzy.
Additional characters and stages are unlocked as hidden objectives are met, and coins rewarded for playing in all modes can be spent on a capsule toy machine. The toys in the machine represent games from Nintendo's entire video game history, and each can be viewed in 3D with a brief description.
In this TAS, numerics plays through Adventure Mode with Samus, abusing glitches to move through the stages at a high rate of speed while making the battles as entertaining as possible.

Arguably one of the most well-known and well-developed SNES
hacks in existence, Super Demo World puts Mario into a new realm that spans well beyond his original adventure.
Features of the hack include:
- The ability to store unconventional items in the reserve box, such as a koopa, springboard, message box, or vine
- 120 exits in total, including two secret worlds
- Creative and challenging level design, with some puzzle elements thrown in
- "New" graphics (mostly backgrounds taken from other games, such as Donkey Kong Country 3 and Mega Man X)
In this run, PangaeaPanga improves upon the previous movie by more than five minutes using newly discovered glitches and a slower overworld route, which counterintuitively saves time.
To see a much shorter run completing the minimum number of stages, see this run.

Jill of the Jungle: Volume I - Jill of the Jungle is the first episode of a shareware series. It is a platform game where the player takes the role of the titular character, an Amazon woman who takes the not-so-typical role of a monster-slaying, leather-wearing warrior. Jill's most distinguishing ability is morphing into various creatures, such as a bird, a fish, and others, which allow her to explore specific areas. Levels often feature platform structures that must be navigated precisely, as well as keys and gems that must be found in order to advance.
Author slamo runs through the first volume in 6 minutes and 40.85 seconds.

This time Keen must face the Grand Intellect, an evil leader who enslaved all Vorticons and indoctrinated them with only one thought: "Keen must die!"
While there are 16 levels total, only 3 are required to beat the game. In RTA timing this run finishes in 1:37.68 and beats the cancelled run by 30.39 seconds.

This is a platform beat 'em up based on the anime series Hokuto no Ken. According to the manual, Kenshirou, the main character, has to save the people from the evil Emperor Heaven. The game itself, however, features no story whatsoever, but a lot of platform action instead. You have to run quickly through the levels (there is a time limit), punching and kicking your enemies, causing them to fly away or to explode. Occasionally you will meet a boss, visit secret areas behind doors and collect various power-ups.
This run improves the previous movie by a little over 20 seconds, thanks to greater optimization and a surprising new glitch for beating some bosses very quickly.
There is also a run of the precursor to this game.

Nester, once the mascot of Nintendo Power, and his sister Hester have decided to star in a bowling game
As with every other bowling game in existence, you roll a ball down an alley in an attempt to knock down 10 pins. To do this in this game, you have to try and match up two gauges: Spin and Power. The Spin gauge determines how far left or right the ball will go, and the Power gauge determines how hard your character throws the ball.

Banjo-Kazooie stars the bear-bird team of Banjo and Kazooie, who are searching for Jiggies, or Jigsaw puzzle pieces, to unlock doors and save Banjo's sister from a rhyming witch. Even though Banjo's name is first, Kazooie ends up doing most of the heavy lifting as new skills are developed.
In this run, Hyperresonance collects all 100 Jiggies hidden throughout the game.
This is an improvement of 24:40.71 over the previous movie. This was possible with overwhelming route changes (and much better route planning ahead), a myriad of new glitches and tricks, and much more optimized movement. This movie loses some time to loading zones on BizHawk vs Mupen (about 2 minutes), so the final time is not quite indicative of how good the run is. With console like loading zones, this would be a 1:57.

Spider-Man is the first 3D game to star the popular web-slinger. It is loosely based on Spider-Man: The Animated Series and Spider-Man Unlimited and features some of the voice cast from each and similar character designs.
Peter Parker is attending a demonstration of the reformed Dr. Otto Octavius's new invention when an imposter Spider-Man steals the device. Spider-Man must work to clear his name and uncover the sinister motives behind the device's theft.
Using various techniques, most prominently out of bound clips, arandomgameTASer swings his webs and beats the game in record time.
Additionally, this run is an improvement over arandomgameTASer's previous attempt at this game, and is 02:18.42 shorter due to more optimization and the use of a new glitch.

Donkey Kong 64 is similar to Rareware's other Nintendo 64 platformer series, Banjo-Kazooie, but stars Donkey Kong and his friends from the Donkey Kong Country games. Several new features have been added to the game, like 3D graphics and the ability to change between different characters with different weapons and abilities.
In this run, RingRush uses glitches to skip a vast majority of the game and beat K. Rool in record time.
Due to differences between versions of the game, different timing methods, and the fact that RTA runs start with some features already unlocked, this run is slower than the RTA equivalent.

Super Smash Bros. began a series of games that mixes characters from several Nintendo-made games into a unique fighting game. It relies not on wearing down the opponent's "life" but increasing damage until he or she can be literally knocked off the stage. Wildly popular, this game has inspired many lazy days of casual multiplayer gaming but also intense competitive tournaments that happen to this day.
In this run, Isotarge & Mittenz team up and tackle the two timed bonus games with all unlockable characters.
Due to regional differences between releases of this game, the authors ran through both the Japanese and North American games. Ultimately, the Japanese version was deemed faster and published, but the North American run is available too. See the submission thread for more details, and for higher resolution encodes.

Paper Mario, first released in Japan in August of 2000, is a role-playing game for the Nintendo 64. Bowser has kidnapped Princess Peach and stolen the Star Rod, which allows him to grant himself any wish. To counteract the power of the Star Rod, Mario must locate the seven Star Spirits, who can combine their power to stop Bowser's evil plans.
Malleoz aims to collect all the star spirit cards by heavily manipulating luck and impressively abusing programming errors and loading zones, making this run a whirlwind of entertainment and speed. For a detailed explanation of the tricks used in this run, see the author's submission notes.
You can also see this game beaten by the same author in the fastest time possible here.
Note: There are encodes of higher resolution in the discussion thread.

Super Mario 64: The Green Stars is a Super Mario 64 rom hack made by Kampel, released in August 2013. Also listed under "hacking" in the credits are Kaze, Frauber and VL-Tone.
The hack has a number of differences compared to the original game, such as an increased count of 130 stars, harder level design, and (as the title implies) green stars. The game is intended as a fan-made sequel to Super Mario 64, and is often praised for feeling very similar to the original game.
The trio of authors power through the hack with incredible speed, showcasing the various levels and landscapes, abusing the game's programming errors, and collecting all 130 stars in under 100 minutes.

In the highly anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed Super Mario 64, Mario and Peach are taking a much-deserved vacation from the so often troublesome Mushroom Kingdom. Only, they quickly find out that there is trouble amuck at their island destination. A culprit has coated the world with goop and paint. Even worse, according to the locals he just happens to look like Mario. Mistaken for the true offender, Mario's would-be vacation instead turns out to be another day on the job as he is convicted of the villain's crimes and is ordered to clean up the world with a water-spewing device that straps to his back, which just happens to add a whole new layer of depth to the usual platforming action.
Here, zelpikukirby & Goldfire use tools to show just how nimble the famed plumber can be. Focusing on revenge rather than reparation, they bring the perpetrator to justice after collecting only 43 shine sprites, leaving plenty of time for Mario and his friends to indulge in the rest and relaxation they originally set out to enjoy.
Note: This run is known to have a sync dependent on both hardware, and graphic settings. If you are having trouble playing back the emulator movie (DTM file), we recommend you watch one of the pre-made encodes instead.

Aliens meet the Illuminati is basically the plot of The Conduit, a First Person Shooter exclusive to the Wii. The game was made in response to the relative lack of more "hardcore" titles for the console at the time. In this title, one plays as Michael Ford fighting against the Trust, a mysterious organization trying to control America, and the Drudge, a race of alien invaders working with the Trust. The player is able to use a variety of weapon types to fight off attackers and makes use of an artifact called the All Seeing Eye to solve puzzles.
In this TAS, NEVERDOORS uses absurd aim, out of bounds, and other glitches to finish the game in under 46 minutes, and in 40:08 ingame time.

Mario Party is a party video game featuring characters from the Mario franchise. It combines the mechanics of board games with more than 50 different mini-games. The two modes of Mario Party are Adventure Mode, the standard mode of play with up to four players, and Mini-Game Island, a single player mode which forgoes the board game mechanics and instead has you win mini-games to progress through levels layed out on an world map.
In this run, Doomsday31415 plays through the game's Mini-Game Island mode as fast as possible, improving upon the previous publication by 01:12.92.

Tetrisphere is supposedly the next step in the evolution of Tetris, going from a 2D rectangular grid to a 3D sphere. Instead of making complete lines to clear the board, the player smashes Tetris blocks into a covered sphere until the core is exposed, which usually ends the level. Along the way, the player racks up points from various block-breaking combos.
In this movie, Acmlm plays through the "Time Trial" mode, where you have to get as many points as possible under a time limit. Watch him rapid-fire Tetris blocks so fast that no one else has any idea what's going on. Even the game itself is confused. Levels do not end properly until the entire sphere is blown apart. As for the timer when it reaches zero, well, see for yourself. :)

Duke Nukem 64 (1997) is a classic PC shooter ported to Nintendo 64 — unfortunately, in a heavily censored state, and without much concern for the game's performance.
As such, the movie is played on the easiest level in an attempt to reduce the framerate drop issues arising from big amounts of enemies shooting at Duke. However, the sheer speed the player is blasting through levels will likely confuse you regardless — we recommend reading the author's comments to understand all the tricks he used.

The author takes many shortcuts, specifically the kind that were not intended to be used. Read the author's submission for more information about the bugs used.
This movie is over 4 minutes faster than the author's previous movie.

After beating 006 in GoldenEye 007, Bond returns to fight Renard, another evil genius attempting to take over the world in a plot similar to the movie this first-person shooter is based on. Armed with various new weapons, Bond skis down the Caucasus Mountains, infiltrates a nuclear bunker, and even makes his way into a sub, all within half an hour.
Various glitches are abused here, particularly some that allow Bond to skip some of his objectives and even some entire levels. For more information, see the author's comments.

Turok: Dinosaur Hunter is a critically acclaimed first-person action game released on the Nintendo 64 in 1997. It stars a hero of controversial descent, being a pre-Colombian Native American time-travelling warrior, referred to as Turok. As such, he must stop an evil entity known as The Campaigner from conquering the universe with a time-controlling artifact called the Chronoscepter (amazing, really). This also was the reason for stuffing the game full with anachronisms, so you'll see high-tech weapons and teleporters together with magic crossbows and dinosaurs.
Turok has been famous for being the first fog navigation simulator of its time. The omnipresent fog was included to obscure the low rendering distance that was used in order to increase performance on N64's hardware, but it also resulted in a somewhat claustrophobic feeling throughout the game. To further confuse the disoriented player, the majority of wall textures are nondescript and repetitive, making it easy to get lost at times.
WARNING: This run includes flashing lights with every item pickup that may cause epileptic seizures to those affected. Also, due to various complaints of motion sickness caused by the strafe-running technique utilized, the viewer is encouraged to keep an airsickness bag handy in case of sudden nausea.

We have seen several submissions for this game here but this is the first one to be published. The author shows off fancy fighting with Yoshi on the hardest difficulty. Rather than the usual goal of speed, this movie aims to be as entertaining as possible in the tradition of all fighting games here.
Another movie, which aims for fastest completion time instead, can be watched here. There are also several other submissions and publications that can be watched on an emulator.

Mischief Makers (1997) is one of the rare 2D sidescrollers released for Nintendo 64. The player controls Marina, the robotic maid of a lecherous and absent-minded professor Theo, who has a habit of being kidnapped constantly. The ones who abduct him every now and then are Clancers from the evil Empire. (And make sure to watch out for the plot twist at the end!)
Marina is quite a versatile cyborg. She can boost continuously in the air, ride vehicles, slide and jump like a maniac, and most importantly, shake. Make no mistake, you'll be seeing Comicalflop shake this thing, and even that thing quite a lot in this fast-paced run.
The game is broken down into 52 short areas, each of them having a separate timer. Because of this, the author aims to optimize the movie for shortest in-game time. Each stage is given a rank based on how fast the stage was completed; this run gets all S Ranks.
The game has some emulation errors, such as unnatural amounts of lag in some stages, and graphical glitches. See the author's comments for more details.

In the direct sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Link is back to being a lone boy without a fairy. One day, he is attacked by Skull Kid and his two fairies, Tatl and Tael, and they steal his ocarina. After pursuing Skull Kid, he is transformed into a Deku Scrub. Link continues pursuing Skull Kid all the way to the Clock Town (now with the help of Tatl the fairy, a more 'in yo face' version of Navi).
This TAS of the game is the result of three years of hard work and many restarts due to new discoveries. It features many never-before-seen tricks and glitches, and completes every dungeon without getting a single boss key. Everything is done out of order, in ways that will amaze the viewer and keep them on the edge of their seat the entire way through, including a whole new way of warping between the areas in the game's over-world, and a new method of traveling that makes even the longest stretches in the game seem tiny.
The author beats the game in two 3-day cycles (the previous route used three), and does so in a way that puts every past attempt at a 6-day challenge to shame.
Note: There are encodes of higher resolutions in the discussion thread. Also, if you know the cutscenes of this game by memory at this point and would rather watch an encode without them, it's your lucky day.

Yoshi's Story (1997), a loose follow-up to Yoshi's Island, tracks the adventures of the Yoshi clan as they attempt to reclaim the Super Happy Tree after it is stolen by Baby Bowser. This apparently involves eating copious amounts of fruit in an effort to find happiness for themselves.
Here, the Yoshis stuff their faces so quickly that one wonders if this is an adventure or an all-you-can-eat banquet.
This is an improvement of 00:20.53 seconds over the previous movie by Comicalflop thanks to several small improvements.

Wildwaters (also known as "Extreme Kayak" and "X-Stream") is a cancelled racing game that was in development by Looking Glass Studios for the Nintendo 64 in 1998-1999. The project was announced at E3 1999 by the company's publisher, Ubisoft, while the studio was working on Destruction Derby 64 (released in the same year), but sadly it was discontinued the following year. The game features an engine with real waterflow physics on the river, an impressive feat on the N64.
In this run, Swordless Link completes the first level (the only playable one in the prototype) using the fastest character, abusing rocks, walls, and everything in his path! There is no proper finish line because one wasn't programmed into the prototype.

Scooby-Doo! Classic Creep Capers is an adventure game released by THQ in 2000. The game follows Shaggy and Scooby through four different mysteries, and on their way, they are assisted by other Mystery Inc. members.
The game was critically panned due to the poor controls and camera angles, but Swordless Link still manages to make the game look fast and fluid. Read the submission text for more information on the tricks used.

Bomberman 64 (爆ボンバーマン Baku Bonbāman) is the first 3-D game within the Bomberman series. It also implements a different single-player mode by incorporating action-adventure and platforming stages, instead of arenas in which enemies or other elements must be destroyed.
This TAS is played on the Japanese version because of its shorter intro.
If you want to see more Bomberman goodness, we have plenty more Bomberman Movies. There is also a 100% run by zvsp.

The protagonist of this game is a blue chameleon named Davy who, upon following a rabbit (closely resembling the one from a Lewis Carroll book) into a magical hole in the ground, finds he has taken on a humanoid form.
Chameleon Twist has a total of 6 levels, of which only 4 need to be played through in order to reach the end.
This run is 00:11.33 seconds faster than the previous run thanks to a timesaver in the second candle room and a better fight against the last boss.

Goemon and his friends return in this side-scrolling sequel to Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon. Bismaru, who looks like Goemon's friend Ebisumaru dressed up as a nun, has swiped a freshly-invented Ghost Returning Machine! With it, he's using planning nothing less than world domination. All Ebisumaru wanted to do with it was meet his ancestor, James Dean! Help Goemon and his friends retrieve the Machine, and bust some ghosts on the way.
Mystical Ninja 2 reverts back to the traditional side-scrolling 2D platforming style of the SNES games. However, due to to the Nintendo 64's 3D capabilities, you'll encounter massive bosses and detailed worlds as you make your way through Japan. To attack, you can either hurl coins, or use each character's specific weapon, such as Goemon's trademark pipe. Two players can also play simultaneously and work together to beat foes, and you can even ride piggy-back onto your friend.
There are also towns to explore, where you chat with villagers and explore various shops and houses for information and clues. Goemon Impact, the giant singing robot wearing rollerskates, also makes a return as you battle enemy mechs from inside its cockpit in a first-person view.

This run of Bomberman 64 achieves 100% status, which means earning 120 gold cards and all custom parts (alternate costumes for multiplayer modes). To acquire the prime "gold parts", players must obtain 120 gold cards within three hours of in-game time on hard mode.
Watch zvsp blast through the stages and collect the cards very quickly. Many bomb-stacking glitches are used to skip areas. Some cards require killing a certain minimum number of enemies, so you'll also get to see Bomberman blow up lots of enemies. Also, the player dies on purpose several times, for deathwarps and as shortcuts for some cards in hazardous conditions.

A wizard is mixing a batch of magic potions when an explosion sends the gloves on his hands flying into the air. One lands safely outside the castle, but the other lands in an evil potion mixture. It's this evil glove who decides to take over the castle. Meanwhile, seven crystals, which used to sit on top of the castle and give the surrounding lands their life force, also fly off in all directions. Thankfully though, the good glove, Glover, changes the crystals into rubber balls so that they land safely.
Now Glover must find the crystals and put them back into the castle to restore life to the land, avoiding the bad glove who is out to stop him and take over the kingdom and the wizard's power.
Nahoc hops, bounces, and dribbles his way through this game, taking advantage of a conveniently-placed crystal to skip right to the boss room in every stage.
If you want to see more of Glover, we also have an all stages run.

Micro Machines 64 TURBO (released in 1999) is the Nintendo 64 remake of Micro Machines V3 (released in 1997) for the PlayStation and PC. It features the same clunky menu system and the same 43 primary courses and 31 unique vehicles (the PlayStation version also had a plodding training mode, "Cherry's Driving School" with five courses defined by cones and a unique training vehicle). The visuals have been slightly improved and a "turbo selection" speed control was added that allows players to choose faster, harder levels of speed.
In this run, Weatherton speeds through one lap of all the courses. To do so, three different gameplay modes are necessary: Time Trial, Test Drive, and Party Play modes. Each track is played using an in-game code to drive at double speed, making the action even more frantic and impressive.

Death Race is a standalone challenge within F-Zero X, so a standalone movie seemed the best way to present it. The goal is simple: destroy the other 29 ships as quickly as possible according to the in-game clock.
This TAS completes the F-Zero X Death Race as quickly as possible, with a time of 5.866s. This improves the prior fastest TAS time of 8.927 by Katsukawa Sojuro aka Xenos (who reports an unpublished time of 6.993s by throwing the car off the side as this TAS does).
The unassisted world-record is 24.745s by Daniel, played in PAL (20.621s converted to NTSC). There's no video of that time, but this video by the same author is almost as fast.

Although the length of this movie is 20:09.98 when timed with our standard method, applying the timing method used by most Zelda speedrunners (until last hit on Ganon) would result in a final time of 16:57.69. It's important to note this so that there's no confusion about which runs are faster than the others.
In this TAS of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the author aims to beat the game as quickly as possible. He achieves this by exploiting a large sequence break which involves "tricking" the game into warping Link directly from the Deku Tree (the first dungeon) to Ganon's Castle. Child Link then goes on conquering the whole castle without a single thought about becoming an adult beforehand.
Despite how quickly this game can be beaten these days, this run is almost two minutes faster than its predecessor thanks to new tricks at the Deku Tree and tower collapse sequence as well as many small improvements throughout the run.
This TAS was done using the Japanese version of the game. The reason for this is that the text is significantly faster than in the English version, which means that far less time is spent waiting for text boxes and cut scenes to end before getting back to the action.
The author's notes explain in great detail many of the things done in this TAS, which may be confusing to those who aren't familiar with Ocarina of Time speedrunning. Reading them is strongly advised.

Mystical Ninja, otherwise known as Ganbare Goemon, is one of Konami's longest-running series, yet remains mostly localized to Japan (thanks in part to cultural differences: the series is very Japanese). This is the first of three games in the series released for the N64.
What begins as a quest to investigate an attack on a castle quickly evolves into a race to stop a plot to transform Japan into... a giant stage.
In this run, a lot of new tricks and some big glitches combine to shave over an hour off the previous publication.

Super Mario 74 is a Super Mario 64 ROM hack made by Lugmillord in 2011. It introduces new harder levels, custom music and a greater amount of Stars to collect.
The hack often pokes fun at both the player and the original game. Most of the dialogue is silly or sarcastic and some star names are deliberately unclear to give the player no help in finding them.
First-time TASer homerfunky uses the game's various glitches to blast through the hack, finishing with all 151 stars in less than two hours.

This is the first speed-oriented TAS of this game to be published here. DennisBalow shows off super fast gameplay with Kirby on the hardest difficulty. The Japanese version was used for even faster attacking and movement speed.
We also have a Fox run that aims for entertainment instead of speed.

At first there were 70 stars, because Bowser demanded it. Then there were 16 stars, because MIPS the Rabbit demanded it. Then there was 1 star, because Bowser's Sub demanded it. Then there were no stars, but 2 keys, because the door leading to the castle basement demanded it. Now there is 1 key because the viewers are impatient and demanded the game be quicker.
As with many other runs on this site, the goal of pure speed has resulted in the complete breaking of the game. Very little of the game's normal play remains. If you'd like to see more of what Super Mario 64 has to offer, see the "70 Stars, no BLJ" run or the "120 Stars" run.
This movie is 2457 frames faster than the previous movie due to the recently discovered and long sought after 'Moat Skip', new strategies and extreme optimizations made possible by parallel universes as explained in the submission text.
Super Mario 64 has a history of publications on this site. If you wish to see how it unfolded since the beginning, see the page SM64TASHistory. Also, if you have a hankering to see MIPS the rabbit, the 16 stars route has been improved.
You can also see this movie played back on a real console.

In this TAS of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the author aims to beat the game as quickly as possible while completing all dungeons, temples, and Ganon Trials. This goal is commonly referred to as "all temples", "all dungeons", or "MST (Medallions/Stones/Trials)".
This run has 22:15.68 minutes of improvements in gameplay over the previous TAS of its kind.
This movie contains a newer route and newer strategies which allow for a much faster completion than were possible when the last run was made. Several large glitches in the game are not used in the run, such as the Reverse Bottle Adventure or the Get Item Manipulation glitch. These are avoided because it would make the completion of any dungeon completely arbitrary; they can be seen in an old any% run.
This TAS is played on the Japanese version of the game. The reason for this is that the text is significantly faster than in the English version, which means that far less time (roughly 12 minutes) is spent waiting for text boxes and cut scenes to end before getting back to the action.
The author's notes explain in great detail many of the things done in this TAS which may be confusing to those who aren't familiar with Ocarina of Time speedrunning. Reading them is strongly advised.

This run completes the game after collecting a mere 16 stars. It was originally intended that the player collect a minimum of 70 to finish, but a few bugs allow Mario to pass through doors and barriers that require a minimum number of stars to open.
Mario has a very wide range of skills for mobility and some of the physics of this game are easily abused by an experienced player.

In the revolutionary 3D debut for the Legend of Zelda series, Link must travel around the colourful land of Hyrule and awaken six Sages in order to save it from the evil Ganondorf.
This movie uses a variety of sequence breaks and shortcuts to complete the game using a minimal number of inventory and quest items. Even the most experienced OoT players are sure to find surprise in what is skippable in this game.
NOTE: There is a short delay in the game every time the pause menu is entered. The delay is a known bug in the emulation and can't be avoided.
JXQ has provided some interesting commentary on the movie, which might make it more entertaining. This movie is the "granddaddy" of all commentaries.

It was originally intended that the player collect a minimum of 70 to finish, but a few bugs allow Mario to pass through doors and barriers that require a minimum number of stars to open. This is also used when unlocking a door would take longer than setting up and executing the bug.
Mario has a very wide range of skills for mobility and some of the physics of this game are easily abused by an experienced player.

In a shocking twist of events, Bowser kidnaps Peach inside her own castle. Mario shows up and rains on Bowser's parade by collecting all 120 stars and winning in record time.
Numerous bugs are exploited in order to speed up Mario's progress and the physics engine is abused to its fullest.
If you prefer to see the game beaten in the fastest time, then watch the "0 Stars" run.

Glover is an animated cartoon-like glove (go figure), complete with only 4 digits. With a ball he can transform into several different forms, he must complete puzzles and navigate dangerous terrain.
The author takes many shortcuts, specifically the kind that were not intended to be used. Read the author's submission for more information about the bugs used.
Warning: There are rapid flashing lights during the boss fight at Fortress of Fear, which may cause epileptic seizures.

In the direct sequel to Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Link is back to being a lone boy without a fairy.
According to the author, this TAS of the game is a result of 10 months hard work and many years of research into this game.
The game is completed in three cycles: after each cycle, the time is reset to three days before a catastrophe that Link is trying to avert.
NOTE: There are some graphical problems in this movie. In particular, a cutscene at 18:20 appears completely white although it should just be dreamshaded. It is a problem with the video plugin used to render this movie.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. According to the author,
This run aims to complete all dungeons/temples/Ganon trials as quickly as possible.
As such, it is a slight deviation from the usual "complete the game as fast as possible without any regard to the plot" theme. Slight, because it still does things in the wrong order. This movie contains several new glitches that are not used in the aims-for-fastest-time TAS that we have on this site.
The second downloadable modern and compatibility encodes contain pre-muxed audio commentary by Comicalflop and MiraiGen. Select an audio track in your media player to choose which you are listening to. The audio commentary can be downloaded stand-alone as well — get Comicalflop's commentary here (mirror), and MiraiGen's here (mirror).

In this run, Sami O. collects all 100 Jiggies hidden throughout the game and finishes it with an in-game time of 2:00:28.
Honey and Birdies and Bears, oh my! Comicalflop has provided an interesting commentary on the run. It might help explain some of the tricks and make the movie more enjoyable to watch.

Mystical Ninja, otherwise known as Ganbare Goemon, is one of Konami's longest-running series, yet remains mostly localised to Japan (thanks in part to cultural differences; the series is very Japanese). This is the first of three games for the series released for the N64.
What begins as a quest to investigate an attack on a castle quickly evolves into a race to stop a plot to transform Japan into... a giant stage.

In the revolutionary 3D debut for the Legend of Zelda series, Link must travel around the colourful land of Hyrule and awaken six Sages in order to save it from the evil Ganondorf.
This movie uses a variety of sequence breaks and shortcuts to complete the game in under an hour using a minimal number of inventory and quest items. Of central interest are the ability to glitch through the Door of Time, meaning that no dungeons need to be entered as young Link, and a memory manipulation glitch known as the Reverse Bottle Adventure, allowing the medallions collected from adult Link's dungeons to be pulled out of thin air; therefore the only dungeon that is ever entered in this run is Ganon's Castle.
This run was originally created for the Japanese video site nicovideo, and hence was run on the Japanese version of the game; allowing this is a deliberate exception to the site's rules. Further improvements are known to exist.

While this run seems to be only 01:31.27 faster than the predecessor movie, the saving is a bit over 8 minutes. This is due to the fact that the Japanese ROM image used for the previous run had a faster text speed, shortening the cut-scenes by 6.5 minutes.
If you know the cutscenes of this game by memory at this point and would rather watch an encode without them, it's your lucky day!
Note: There are multiple encodes for this run. All encode lists follow this order:

At first there were 70 stars because Bowser demanded it. Then there were 16 stars because MIPS the rabbit demanded it. Then there was 1 star because Bowser's Sub demanded it. Now there are none because the viewers are impatient and demanded the game be quicker.
As with many other runs on this site, the goal of pure speed has resulted in the complete breaking of the game. Very little of the game's normal play remains. If you'd like to see more of what Super Mario 64 offers, see the 120 stars run.
This movie is 3 frames faster than the previous movie due to extreme optimization, explained in the submission message.
Super Mario 64 has a history of publications on this site. If you wish to see how it unfolded since the beginning, see the page SM64TASHistory. Also, if you have a hankering to see MIPS the rabbit, the 16 stars route has been improved.
Note: The excessive camera movement in this TAS has caused motion sickness in susceptible viewers. Proceed with caution.

Here, the Yoshis stuff their faces so quickly one wonders if this is an adventure or an all-you-can-eat banquet.

This run has roughly 35 minutes of improvements in gameplay over the previous TAS of its kind.
This movie contains several new glitches and sequence breaks which allow for a much faster completion than were possible when the last run was made. Several large glitches in the game are not used in the run, such as those which allow the player to manipulate memory addresses to obtain items without physically picking them up. These are avoided because it would make the completion of any dungeon completely arbitrary; they can be seen in an old any% run.
Unlike the previous movie of this category, this TAS is played on the Japanese version of the game. The reason for this is that the text is significantly faster than in the English version, which means that far less time (roughly 12 minutes) is spent waiting for text boxes and cut scenes to end before getting back to the action. English subtitles were added to the encode for people interested in what was said.
The author's notes explain in great detail many of the things done in this TAS which may be confusing to those who aren't familiar with Ocarina of Time speedrunning. Reading them is strongly advised.
Note: There are encodes of higher resolutions in the discussion thread.

Although the length of this movie is 22:50.27 when timed with our standard method, applying the timing method used by most Zelda speedrunners (until last hit on Ganon) would result in a final time of 19:46:22. It's important to note this so that there's no confusion about which runs are faster than the others.
In this TAS of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the author aims to beat the game as quickly as possible, and achieves this by exploiting a large sequence break which involves "tricking" the game into warping Link directly from the Deku Tree (the first dungeon) to Ganon's Castle.
It's a large improvement over the previous run and features an entirely new route; one which, for the first time in Ocarina of Time TASing history, doesn't even involve becoming Adult Link.

F-Zero X is the 3D sequel to the popular SNES hovercraft racing title. It offers a wide array of cars, tracks and play options, and has had an active speed-running community since its release in 1998.
This TAS completes the 6 tracks of the Jack Cup in time trial mode, where you choose any track to drive solo aiming for fastest possible completion of 3 laps according to the in-game timer, accurate to the millisecond. A special input sequence is used to unlock all cars (you normally unlock cars by playing in grand prix mode).
This TAS improves the "cup-time" by 19.088 seconds over the awe-inspiring unassisted world records. In addition, each track beats all known individual-track TAS's - specifically those by Jimmy K Thai (JKT), a ground-breaking player and long-time world champ.

Despite how quickly this game can be beaten these days, this run is almost one minute faster than its predecessor thanks to a new trick at the Tower Collapse Sequence and many small improvements throughout the run.

Mario Party is a party video game featuring characters from the Mario franchise. It combines the mechanics of board games with more than 50 different mini-games. The two modes of Mario Party are Adventure Mode, the standard mode of play with up to four players, and Mini-Game Island, a single player mode which forgoes the board game mechanics and has you win mini-games to progress through the levels.
In this run, Senshin Ichii plays through Mini-Game Island mode and aims to complete the various mini-games as fast as possible.
